Have you guys noticed, but most people in the business, you know, staffers for bands, are usually jerks. You guys experienced the same thing?

I am a member of the union and have my hand in some big venues, i've found about 80% of the guys are not the type i enjoy working with.

You'll find the ADJ forum is "jerk free". We run special filtering software, coupled with LEO satellites & 1.21 JWt lasers to keep the jerks out. Big Grin

funny, the people working in the clubbing industry here are actually quite nice. Must be a canadian thing Big Grin

Yeah i agree quite a few promoters and concert people higher up think they own this world, but the real people aka sound, light technicians etc. who put the show up are quite hard working and nice people. Alot of respect for them.

The bouncers on the other hand is a 50- 50 thing... Big Grin

That's pretty bad. I can understand the irritation, but that's just way over the top. We've had our shares of irritating moments in live sound, but it's just unproffessional to throw stuff at people and be a complete jerk without provocation. that's just pathetic.

Well, where I'm at, the bands(mostly) are jerks, but it matches their management, who are also jerks.

The union guys, besides being jerks, are for the most part unskilled, useless hunks of flesh taking away jobs from people who DO want to work. Of course, there are exceptions to that rule. I'm no union fan as it tends to keep the incompetent employed.

Club owners are jerks too. They have a ****py PA, a lame engineer, and it sounds like ass night after night, but that's OK. Hell, I spent more on my console than they spent on their entire stage, PA, lights and monitors.

And my customers for the most part are jerks. They hire me, I give them everything I have to give, and then they just look down on me as if I was scum. I get it set up, troubleshoot it, fix it(as necessary) and have crew, this isn't somy fly bythe seat of your pants operation. People keep saying "wow, your system sounds so good". Great, hire it then.

when I do get a good customer or venue or band, it's hard to keep working with them since they have no loyalties either. I do offer MORE for LESS, but sometimes, I just don't know what people want. I go out and do nothing except my best each time and after each show I criticize the problems, learn and improve.

I hear ya, Chris. I've had some people who were upset that we were going to pack up at the time we had been schedualed until, especially since the price i was getting was WAAYY too low (for the hassle of going accross the state and setting up in a wasp-infested gazebo) and it was an outdoor gig and it was raining.

I also want to mention that as a live sound engineer, i almost got into a physical fight with the drummer in a band because everyone neglected to do a soundcheck (by everyone i mean myself and the guy who just wouldn't stop screwing around with his amp cranked when we were tring).

I try to be civil, i really do, because there are too many people with huge egos and no talent in the world, especially in the entertainment industry. It's incredibly irritating dealing with people who have no clue but act as though they know better than you do. In fact, this has lead to a band being banned from even entering my studio ever again (mainly the ego part).
