Hey All,
Right now all my equipment is stored in my garage. Is it safe there or should i move it indoors?

By safe, you have to look at seperate things: Safe from weather and safe from theft.

Weather wise: Does it get too cold (below freezing), too hot (above 90), too humid, inside the garage? Is it well protected from rain, wind, etc?

Security: Does the garage lock? Is the door in good shape structurely? Is it one of those nice new plastic-style doors, or the 30 year-old thin-as-cardboard ready to fall off the hinges (like mine)? Does it lock? Do you jam a bar through the track to make it even tougher to open? Do you have motion-activated lights outside? Is it attached to the house or seperate?

You could probably get away with keeping most of your gear out there, but I would still bring your decks inside. Maybe the more expensive lights, too.

I keep my gear in my Garage, and it has been safe there for many years.

Billabong brings up many good points. My garage is climate controlled to a point, and structurely sound so it is protected from the elements. It is also attached to the house and alarmed, so it is pretty well protected by theft. I also use a P.O. Box # for business transactions, so none of my clients know my actual address. Just in case.

Just a quick garage story:
I recently purchased a truss system, so I set it up in the garage. Of course, I had to hang all my lights on it. To test it. Smiler But, then I realized I need sound to move the lights, so I brought in the speakers and PS2's. When it was all done, I showed the wife. Her first respsonse: "That's really cool! You know, if you clean out the rest of that junk, paint the walls, you could turn this place into another Voodoo's (an old club we used to frequent)!" My heart skipped a beat! I said, "Really?!"
She said, "No, not really. Like I want 100+ strangers in my garage."
Women, can't live with'em... Wink

My house is fairly new...only about 2 years old. yes the garage locks and has lights that come on automatcially. As for weather, right now in SD its finally starting to get colder. Not below freezing but it gets cold enough (for a californian i guess!). In the summer it does creep up to 90+ so maybe thats the concern. Ive got my system, and tow powered speakers in ther right now. Oh my lights are there to bu there sin suitcase. So its sounds like it shoudl be okay. I was worried if the colder weather was going to harm it. Everything is in padded/carpeted road cases. So I think itll be fine. Thanks Again,
