All,
1) I have 6 standard 60W coloured light bulbs mounted on my truss that I want to slowly pulse... that is: slowly come on, then slowly turn off. Pulse speed would be nice but not required. Is there an inexpensive way to do this? Is there some kind of box that I can plug the lights into? 2) Where can I purchase the black material to recover my speakers? Where can I get new corner hardware? 3) I have two 15" 8 ohm subwoofers (one per box). I have a 1000W amp to drive them. Do I put the speakers in parallel (4 ohm load to the amp) so I can drive them in bridged-mono mode? I read that this is the way to go versus having each speaker on a separate channel (L & R). I appreciate any help. Thank you. Stephen Buckley Turtletraxx Sound & Light |

Alright here is some help, or at least an attempt.
1) Maybe Dim-Packs and a good chase controller will do what you are looking for. I know how they work for Pars, and Pins, but I am unsure how they will work with "60watt colored bulbs". I know technically a light is a light, so it should be able to do what you need. But in reallity there is as much as a difference between 2 different light bulbs(ie. florescents, halogen, quartz, mercury vapor, and so on), as there is between 2 computers in they way they react to things. 2)You can usually get new hardware dirrect from the manufacturer of the speaker. As far as new black material. If it is carpeting, take it to a car audio place that does custom work. Alot of them do excellent jobs at carpeting speaker cabs. And most use a good heavy duty carpet as well. 3) If you run them in parallel down to 4ohms, you will get more power to them if you run your amp in bridged mono mode. The only downside is your amp works slightly harder, thus creating more heat, and wear & tear on your amp. Also you want to consider the wattage rating of the subs. If they are rated for 250 watts a piece @ 4ohms, you run the chance of overdriving them. On the other side of the coin, if the speakers handle 1000 watts a piece you will undrive them, probably clipping your amp, and damaging your speakers. Please give more specifics as to what your speakers handle @ 4ohms, and what your amp pushes at 4ohms bridged mono to clear this up more. |

DJ Stevie Ray: Thank you for the reply. The subwoofer is rated at 800W 'program' or 400W 'RMS'. The amp puts out 1100W into 4 ohms with B-M mode OR 900W into 8 ohms with B-M mode. Stephen |

I found a good source for heavy-duty industrial case hardware, including speaker corners, handles, etc.

2) if you're talking about the front cover (if you have one), i found similar material at a fabric store that did the trick.
check your local hardware store for some corner caps or guards. you'd be surprised what you could find.... there may be something that could enhance the look of your speaker and that would be cheaper than going back through the manufacturer. |

That amplifier should power those subs nicely when paralled at a 4^ load...you'll have plenty of good clean headroom for undistorted peaks.
