Hey, a story with a happy ending.

First off, I'm not really a Beastie Boys fan, but I won't hold that against them.

Turns out one of them has cancer in a salivary gland. Yes, cancer is bad, and thats NOT the good news. The good news it was found very early so it's "very treatable". He will need surgery to remove it and he's expected to make a full recovery. Sounds like he won't be making any dead pool lists for a while.

Lesson: Frequent self exams can help detect or suspect issues of some issues.

They have cancelled a tour, which is a good thing for them to do until he recovers. They have delayed an album release. I figure this cancer scare would be good promotional period for releasing the album as the advance sales may indicate a better tour run. BUt most tours are designed to directly support an album release which is why they are often scheduled close to each other.

So, there ya go. Cancer spotted early and full recovery expected and Beastie Boy fans can celebrate not only a healthy band, but a new album and tour. No fighting for the right to party, it's granted!
