Nice setup. I found leaving the basic stuff on the truss like the strobes and par cans and power packs or chasers is faster. Just be sure to take out par light bulbs or else you'll have to beef upp the socket eith one that has screw instead of rivets holding the bulb in.

By the way, is that an actual picture of the laser in action? if so what laser is it? ADJ of course, I'm just too lazy to look

hey guys, tell me what you think of this video I made of a lighting setup I did. It's the first video I've ever done so cut me some slack lol. Yes I know the audio gets messed up at one spot but other then that I'd love to hear what you guys have to say and how I can improve it. Thanks. FYI it's 3:54 min. and it's a 10.4mb file and you need windows media player. Thanks

Nice job, MadMikey!!

DjJose, first you have to host a picture someplace, like on your website (if you have one), or on one of the free picture websites out there (like villagephotos.com).
Once it's hosted, you can then use the "IMAGE" button while writing a message to put your picture into the message.

bigguy, power is always an issue. For larger setups where I need the power I often end up generating my own power through a large generator, then feed the power inside through a feeder cable into a distro box. However, for smaller setups, I would suggest doing this:
Don't skimp on the lights. I would suggest going with ALL dmx controllable lighting. You will be thankful you did this later on. Get yourself some dmx scanners, and a couple moving heads, some par cans and a dmx pack to run them from. I would then suggest getting the dmx operator pro control board. This board will allow you to operate both traditional (par cans) and intelligent lighting fixtures from one console. As far as lasers go, I would go with a green laser. The laser machines that I own are not adj, they range from 30mW to 120mW. Please keep in mind that anything above 5mW requires a variance to operate in public. All of my lighting fixtures are controlled through dmx. This allows me to do the following:
Create my own custom shows
provide a solution to power issues... for example if I know i'm going to be short on power , let's say I can only pull a max of 20 amps, what i'll do is design programs that only run certain lighting fixtures at any given time so that I will never be pulling more then 20 amps. My programs will then automatically turn certain fixtures on and others off. It's important to have a variety of fixtures as well. Different fixtures provide you with different effects and it's important to provide a variety.
I hope I answered any questions you had, if you would still like more information about power you can visit my website that addresses the issue of power at Spectrum Lighting-Power Requirements
If you have further questions feel free to Private Message me or drop me an email through my contact form on my website.
-Mike

Thank you Cool
I large problem arises with you suggestion
Money your conversation talks green?
I would only start off small maybe one laser
and one multi light{*******- starburst system
or aggressor light} Do you like sound activated light, or do you think they leave to much to chance. Last should I invest in a stage rack system I know it may seem a dumb question, but I'm curious of another suggestions. thanks
The Bigguy.

Yes my "vision" includes lots of green lol. If your on a smaller budget you need to think about a few things. first of all do you want to eventually get more lighting effects? Do you want to advance to dmx controlled lighting? If yes then you should base your system around an entry level dmx system. Get lights that have the ability to be controlled by dmx but can also run stand alone. Also a sufficient lighting truss is imperative. A good truss will save you time money and breaking your back. I would say start off right and go with adj's dura truss sytem. It has 2 crank stands so that if you end up loading the truss with lights eventually you simply crank them and they raise up. I own it and it's great. Also the truss can support 300lbs so you have room to add a lot of stuff.
