Well, like the sucker/fan I am, I ran out and bought the boxed set of Star Wars original Trilogy.

I am somewhat disappointed. I haven't had time to watch it yet, but that's not unusual for me. I have some DVD's that are a couple of years old and still in the plastic wrap.

I bought this since it was supposed to contain the original theatrical releases of Star Wars Original Trilogy. Well, it does. But it is in a 4:3 presentation for a 2:33:1 aspect ratio. In other words: not a true widescreen release, although in a letterboxed presentation.

Lucas(as in George): This is simply not good enough. I've bought the triloy TWICE on VHS, then Episodes 1,2 and 3 when they came out. Heck, even got Episode 1 on VHS just so I would have it, despite never running it through my VHS deck. Then the "Special Edition" trilogy comes out, so I gobble that up too. Now this one, promising the original theater releases.

Come on. How about this:
Release JUST the original theatrical releases on DVD as a special boxed set. No junk, just the movies themselves. I don't care about extras and stuff like that. Sure, I'll watch them if they are there, but come on. I want the originals, period. What do I have to do, run my VHS copies into the computer to digitize them and then make DVD's from that? VHS blows enough as it is, don't make me suffer through compromised media!

I hear ya. I got two VHS box sets (original "blue" non-letter box, and the "gold" enhanced version) of IV-VI. I have 1, 2, and 3 on seperate DVDs. Yes, I got 1 on VHS too, (never watched it). Picked up the IV-VI box set on DVD. Only made it through New Hope so far, and played the Battlefront Xbox game (so worth it).

I'll have to say "thanks" Chris for finding that out about the new box set. So now, I'm done. I've given ol' George enough money.
