Hi there. I am leaving the forum again to deal with business. In this case, for my e-stalkers and those otherwise missing my verbose answers, let me fill you in as this may affect some of you.

I am sick of a couple of things here at Studio42. One of those things is the web server. While there is absolutely nothing wrong with this 1000Mhz PIII machine, there is a little amusng yet annoying history I will share.

Last November, the power supply failed. But let me back up a bit more. The web server was running just fine as a 533Mhz PIII wiht 128MB RAM. I figured, "what the hell, let's do an upgrade" so I used that spare logic board, CPU and memory laying around(which was working just fine as a Win98 SE workstation until being re-deployed). The reason for the ugprade in the first place? A fan on the CPU cooler was failing.

So, in goes the new logic board, CPU and memory. Things are OK, Red Hat takes it just fine. No problems. WRONG.

Issue 1: Memory starts failing. I got some defective DIMMs. Had to play musical memory for a while, a game I will have to get back into because I need loads of RAM on that machine.

OK, resolved that issue by leaving 1 DIMM in there, I think leaving me once again wiht 128MB of RAM. Bu we're talking LINUX here.

2: So, then the power supply fails. Well, it's old, replace it. Grrr, annoying, but I have spares.

3: Day before an event, the hard drive FAILS. I have to scramble to get a replacement, and in a rush to keep things working, got Red Hat on there and running but I have some configuration issues I can't resolve, in addition to it being an older Red Hat release.

One of the reasons I will begone is to redo the web server from the ground up with the latest Fedora build. Ubunto sucked so I won't even entertain it. I also need the latest PHP so I can stop the spammers from abusing my forms by adding a CAPTCHA to it, which I am unable to do with my current version.

How does this affect you all? Well, without my wisdom being forced upon you via this forum, the little MyDMX area will vanish for a bit as well.

I host multiple domains on my web server, so trust me when I say this: the MyDMX support stuff will return ASAP. I suspect it to take at least 2 days to get the web server working again, mainly due to httpd daemon configurations, testing and a few other things. I usually use 1 day for install and basic fixing, while day 2 tends to often be more productive. Once studio42.com goes live, the rest tend to follow rather quickly.

So, I'm not dead, I'm just busy. I do apologize for this inconvenience. I expect to dive into this sometime after the 27th of July, but it may be delayed until September. This was supposed to have been done in January. You can see, things get busy fast around here. The web server usually takes lowest priority.

At lest this time I am backing up my counters and CGI's much more frequently. I relied on errors to tell me which counters were missing.
