Club DJ |
I have found a recording studio to make a demo cd for my djing.
I just want to know what you guys think that would be the best way to hand out my cds. should i just give them to any one or only specific people. Or should i only hand it out to people when i am djing. thanks |

D-K-X,
Well actually I would give them out when I'm djing at a gig, or when I'm at a club.(preferably after the club is over) If you want to make money out of the deal, then you should go to a private vendor where they sell mix cd's of different DJ's. If its any good the vendor might buy a couple of them from you. Before you know it...you will be hearing your cds all over the place...(i.e cars, homes, etc.) When I was back in New York I used to sell my cds but I first handed them out to my local neighborhood buddies....that will be a good start. Remember Word of Mouth is a Dj's best weapon!!!! |

Just be careful whenever "selling" a CD you could be brought up on charges for selling other peoples music, unless all the tracks are your own creation. Maybe Roq can help you out, as he would know more about Aussie copywrite laws than myself. BTW. I would not really give them out much at the club, maybe a couple. The people there already heard you mix and know you can, I would give them away more so outside the club to promote yourself to the people who HAVEN'T heard you.
