What are some good techno compilation CD's that would be suitable for school dances? I have a high school dance this weekend and they want some techno, but I'm not real familiar with the techno scene. I'm familiar with some of those ultimate party CD's that have some tunes from the 90's mixed or remixed together, but I'm not real familiar with the current techno.
Help. Thanks!

ahh, techno, the term that gets thrown around loosely. to clarify, are you looking for dance music compilations, trance compilations, other electronica compilations, or pure techno compilations? just wondering because a lot of people refer to trance, techno, breaks, dance, and others all as "techno".
i suggest you go to vigin megastore and poke around in the electronic section. everytime i'm there i run across a good, pure techno comp. but i question whether it would go over well at a school dance.

are you kidding me????? They are far from great, "mixed" by computer editing by a dj who honestly to my knowledge hasn't set foot in an actual working environment other than a radio station. The only reason why they would be considered decent is the tracks, not necessarily the selection or programming, but the fact that they are licensed to him before the domestic's are released, in his own words "i completely edit out the boring parts of the song and give the listener what they want to hear". . . well many of us prefer to do long mixes as it's a little more of a buildup and also requires more concentration. pardon my rant, but if you need cd's for gigs, stay away from pre mixed, it's tacky.
there good for bathroom breaks lol, he might not be a good dj, but its still a good song selection. i'm not sayin he's good, i'm sayin i like the cd's.

Go and get urself Paul Van Dyk - The Politics Of Dancing, or if you just want some awesome footage and awesome tunes get Paul Van Dyk's New DvD/CD titled "Global", there are many others, but for trance PvD, and Tiesto Compilations are gona be ur best shot.

Louie Devito's cds the Underground has good songs on them but the mixing is done poorly! As long as you know when to cut it into the next song they could be considered good cds! Try Trance Party volumes 1 and 2! You can find them in most cd stores and are a well sold compilation! They have hits like "Omnibus by Lautsprecher" WICKED GOOD song and will have the crowd pumpin and begging for more! You can't go wrong with Darude either! Just look around at your local cd store! You are bound to find something!

I agree that Louie Devito's stuff isn't that well mixed but the music selection is very good but he never plays the whole songs. His worst cd is his newsest release, Vol 5 double disc set. Check out DJ X. I have all of his stuff, thats if you like break beats. X is a great mix show DJ.
