man, how come a lot of dj's I run into nowadays say reggae music tends to kill the crowds????......Hhmmmm???....its never happened to me before.....maybe its all about timing when to play reggae music huh???.....I remember playin red red wine by ub40 and the crowd even sang to it!!.....man it was crazy!!......when it came to the chorus I cut out the "red red wine" part and surely enough the crowd sang it louder than I think I was playin it
what do u guys think??...does reggae music clear the floor when u guys play???.....any bad/good experiences with reggae???....oh and by the way....ever run into people that say they're all about reggae and ask if u can play some reggae music and yet dont know who bob marley or lucky dube are??.....(are u serious??) ~!!F()bStEr!!~ |

Firstly when someone asks me to play some reggae, they actually mean the "REAL" reggae music which is stuff that the majority of people at the gig would not have a clue to, and never heard before. Red Red Wine is a great tried and true song, however people always ask for it by name and not as a reggae request. I consider it more a pop song even though it has a reggae beat to it. I shot the sheriff yet another pop song. I've put Bob Marley on a few times however it never fills the floor, at least at the gigs I do. I always end up playing that Sean Paul song, that seems to fill the urge for people wanting to hear any Reggae, and it is another great song too.
Just my 2 cents. |

maybe cause they play "roots reggae" or "dub" rather than dancehall reggae...like sean paul, ub40, and so on (and there is a big difference)..oh well i dont know.....thats just me |
