Firstly when someone asks me to play some reggae, they actually mean the "REAL" reggae music which is stuff that the majority of people at the gig would not have a clue to, and never heard before. Red Red Wine is a great tried and true song, however people always ask for it by name and not as a reggae request. I consider it more a pop song even though it has a reggae beat to it. I shot the sheriff yet another pop song. I've put Bob Marley on a few times however it never fills the floor, at least at the gigs I do. I always end up playing that Sean Paul song, that seems to fill the urge for people wanting to hear any Reggae, and it is another great song too.
Just my 2 cents.

maybe cause they play "roots reggae" or "dub" rather than dancehall reggae...like sean paul, ub40, and so on (and there is a big difference)..oh well Big Grin Big Grin ...alot of times when im playin hip hop...and they want reggae they usually dont ask by artist they just ask for reggae....so its good to start with dancehall and if they're really into it....i put on some "roots reggae"......
i dont know.....thats just me Big Grin Big Grin ....maybe someone else has another reason ....
