I have been really rusty lately with mixing the lower beat hip hop stuff. So I got bored tonight, and went into the studio, to make some mixes. Tell me what you think. I didn't have time to listen to them myself before I went back in to record some more sessions. Session 2 should be ready shortly, and it is already much better (at least to me). Don't hold back, but remember I can have you suspended from the forum....lol. The first mix is about 80 min. long, and will take about 10 min. to d/l on a cable modem. It is downbeat Urban stuff.

Track Artist Title BPM
1 Outkast The Way You Move 126
2 Jagged Edge Walked Outta Heaven 60
3 Ginuwine Love You More 61
4 Ruben Studdard Sorry 2004 65

Stevie Ray;
Nice Job. Tracks 13 and 20 are the J@M$. It is a little slow on the mobile front here. I was thinking of making a couple of mixes as well. Looking foward to your next mix.

How in the heck did you listen to it that quick????

Well anyway here is session 2. It's getting later, and I have a few beers in me. Maybe that's why I feel like it's a little better. It's a little more upbeat dancable hip-hop. I am heading back in, for a nice High energy club mix. That is what I'm good at. Big Grin

Session 2.
1 R. Kelly Step In The Name Of Love 831GD #7 95
2 Murphy Lee F/J.Dupri Wat Da Hook Gon Be 832GD#7 95

Stevie Ray;
Tracks 1, 5 and 9 are the J@MS. Tracks 6 and 7 were mixed flawless and I like the echo effect at the end of Milkshake. Looking foward to the club mix.

Well here is the club mix. The mixes are alot tighter, as thhis is what I mainly do. The reason I posted the downbeat stuff, is because I have never been that good at mixing Hip-Hop, and I haven't practiced in a while, so I was really rusty. There are some really fun tracks in this mix.

Track - TRACK_TITLE - ARTIST - BPM - YEAR - (VERSION)
1 - Me Against The Music - Britney Spears feat. Madonna - 120 - 2003 (Rishi Rich's Desi Kulcha Remix)
2 - Milkshake - Kelis - 124 - 2003 (X-Press 2 Radio Edit)
3 - Never (Past Tense) - Roc Project Feat. Tina Arena - 125 - 2003 (Radio Edit)
4 - Believe - Murk (Oscar G. & Ralph Falcon) - 127 - 2003
5 - Rocket Man 2003 - Elton John - 126 - 2003 (KDME Remix)
6 - Baby Boy - Beyonce feat. Sean Paul - 132 - 2003 (Junior Vazquez Club Mix)
7 - Raise Ya Hands Up (Uh Oh) - DJ Boozywoozy - 139 - 2003 (Klubb Mix)
8 - Baby I'm In Love - Thalia - 135 - 2003 (Boris & Beck Radio Edit)
9 - Somebody To Love - Boogie Pimps - 131 - 2003
10 - Addicted - Enrique Iglesias - 131 - 2003 (The Scumfrog Remix Edit)
11 - Brass In Pocket - Ultra Nate - 131 - 2003 (Chris The Greek Radio Mix)
12 - Clocks - Coldplay - 144 - 2003 (Latin House Krew Mix)
13 - Time Of Our Lives - Paul Van Dyk Feat. Vega 4 - 139 - 2003 (Dance Radio Edit)
14 - Sly - Layo & Bushwacka! - 138 - 2003

Stevie Ray's Slappy New Year Mix.

Not bad, Stevie! I like the club mix alot! That version of "Me Against..." is almost tolerable! Big Grin What version of "Clocks" is that, where can I find it?

The first session was a little slow (for me), but I understand why you did it.

Thanks for the kick in the pants to spend today practicing, instead of in front of the boob-tube. Look for a mix soon!

I actually got to listen to the first two myself. I know I was just screwing around, but I came to 2 conclusions.....
1st) Stevie Ray can't scratch.....lol....That was my purpose to do these mixes, because I am trying to teach my self the "turntablism" stuff.
2nd) Man did I butcher the SH....ugar out of the "MilkShake"..... Big Grin

I just finished listening to my club mix.

And the only way to get better is. Try doing things, and record everything. When you listen to it back, you will (at least I do) do 1 of three things....
1) Say I can do better, and get back on the horse.
2) Say that sounded like ****, and I will never try that live
3) Cry in a corner, and decide it's time to retire. Big Grin

Actually all 3 of the mixes were just a screw around session, so I will actually plan out a mix show, and not "try out" so many things, and make a mix in the next couple of days.

I've recently started doing that too. I used to just practice, and subject my wife to the happiness and the horror of my mixing. But, she got tired of that rather quickly. Dunno why... Smiler

Yep, pretty much the same here. 'Cept that instead of crying, I jam pencils repeatedly into my ears and say, "Wow, that sounds better than what I just did!" Big Grin

(kidding! Please do not jam pencils in your ears!!)

Maybe when I get good enough and figure out how to post a mix, I'll do so, and as billabong said, thanks Steve for giving me a reason to get up off my a$$ and practice mixing Big Grin I didn't spend $400 on a cd player for it to collect dust!

All you need is webspace to put the song. Stevie Ray used the webspace at "www.stevierayproductions.com" then put up a link to the file. Webspace is available free from all sorts of people, and your ISP probably gives you a certain amount of it, too.

Example:
A link to my bored afternoon ACID-looped creation Atmosphere
