Anyone heard the new Walter Ostenak Polka disc, at least I think it's him, he just won some award for best Polka album of the year beating out Jimmy Sturr. Just curious if it's worth getting or just staying with my old polka standbys. Don't get much requests for polkas, maybe once a gig if that, but it is nice to have newer stuff if it is any good. Just curious.

DOGG: What are your old polka standbys? I really want to know. I don't get many requests for polkas either but when I do the people that ask for them have a good time. They are fun people. The only thing I have right now is a greatest hits package of country flavored polkas by Joey Miskulin.

All I carry with me is a Jimmy Sturr disc, an Emeralds best of disc, and some Andre Rieu which covers Polka's and Waltzes. Jimmy Sturr does some waltzes too on his. My parents used to be into that stuff big time. I have their original L.P.'s however they are not in too good a shape. Polka is Polka, so when you give em a polka song, any song, it's usually good enough for them. It's just I happened to hear about this on the radio the other day. That's how I heard about Jimmy Sturr. He's pretty good actually. Like I said it's nice to update some stuff once in a while. Ummm pa pa Umm Pa Pa.

If you have to have polka's in your library, you have to have some Lawrence Welk and Marv Zander. Just my opinion but these two are staples in the polka and waltz genre.
