I personally am not a big country fan, so in turn, it tends to be one of my weaker subjects when it comes to music. I want to know what are some of your "must have" country songs! Please list title and artist, and don't paste your whole library on here, just your top songs. lol Smiler

i'll list mine even though we have mentioned this topic in a very recent post, please use the search option in the future

Up beat:

Shiania Twain - Man i feel like a Woman

Brooks and dunn - Boot Scoot'n boogie

Alan Jackson - Chattahoochie

Mary Chapin Carpenter - Down at the Twist

Rednex- cotton eye joe

Tracy Bryd - Watermelon crawl

Slow songs:

Shiania Twain - From this moment

Allison Krauss- when you say

there are plenty of great country slow songs, to many to list, even the newer stuff is good, if your in need of country go to time life pick up there compilations and if you need the newer stuff sign up for the promoonly country radio series.

I just found out I'm going to be dj'ing a party where they want to do line dancing. I looked at the list above, and saw Boot-Scootin' Boogie as one I know people like to line dance to. Are there any others on the list or not listed that will work as well?

Thanks,
Will

Some other country songs that work well include:

-Fast As You - Dwight Yoakum (I've seen people do the Electric Slide to this one!)

-Sold - John Michael Montgomery (You can't go wrong with this one!)

-Next Big Thing - Vince Gill (I know this one is new but it has a great country/oldies beat to it)

-God Blessed Texas - Little Texas

-My Maria - Brooks & Dunn

-Practically any Chris LeDeaux goes over well with country audiences

Slower Songs:

-I Hope You Dance - Lee Ann Womack
-I Swear - John Michael Montgomery
-Neon Moon - Brooks & Dunn
-Me & You - Kenny Chesney

There's a few more for ya. Hope that helps. Smiler

Thanks for the help... I'll get out this weekend and pick up some of the songs you mentioned. Since the crowd is all-ages, I'll hold off on that one song by Chris LeDeaux that I like... The Rodeo Song. Wink

Thanks again,
Will

It's also a good idea to look for a lot of those "greatest hits" albums from popular country artists. Sometimes they're a little cheaper too!

I have gotten pretty familiar with country (traditional and contemporary) through the karaoke market, and actually have come to like most of it. There are some good recommendations listed here. If you need some ideas, just check out the charts. Some of my personal favorites are Brooks & Dunn, Trick Pony, Brad Paisley, Dwight Yoakam and Kenny Chesney.

You should also definitely have "God Bless the U.S.A." by Lee Greenwood - especially given what's going on these days.
