I use the Nightlife system in some of the clubs I work in....I hate it especially the latency in the controller! The updated version with pitch control isn't that much of an improvement either, there is still latency and the queue points seem to drift off as well - damn annoying. The only thing I like about it is the Automatic DJ mode, load up a bunch of songs in order and walk away - good for toilet breaks.

D-J-X do you have any specific questions or moans about the system?

i was just going to ask, how accurate is the bpm on the computer, each song has the beats per minute next to it but i was just wondering if they were correct? i dont mind the system, i love how many songs there are to choose from but it is the most hardest system to mix on because when you push the play button it is delayed by one second and it makes it really hard. what is your favourite thing about it?

I've found the BPMs are pretty good but like any music you mix with, always rely on your hearing over what you seen in the counter.

Like I said you can queue to a particular spot of a video for instant start then I've noticed if you stop and start in succession, it seems ok, but if you leave it longer it seems to drift off and the delay kicks in and it ceases to be instant start. I think it is a buffering issue with the software. Also the accuracy of the pitch is a very poor 0.2% range. Not good for long mixes.

Another thing you'll notice that if you go beyond 2% +/- pitch the syncing between video and audio goes off. It's funny watching Britney's lips out of sync with the music....oh...hang on, that actually happens without pitch control ;-)

I like the Automatic DJ and Billboards are pretty cool feature as well.

Not sure if you know this but in the Utilities menu if you Turn Off The Compression in Manual Mode, you actually get 2-3db gain in your output and music quality improvement mainly because the output is no longer being compressed.

Overall not a bad concept considering the hefty price tag for the computer ($10,000) and monthly music update costs ($400 p/month). But I think a bit overpriced as an overglorified video jukebox.

Hope this helps
