Hey guys, played a wedding recept this week-end and had some older taters there who jumped all over this mix ( it just happens it's my fav genre, too):

Billy Joel - River of Dreams
Brightside of the Road - Van Morrison
Smoke from a Distant Fire-Sanford-Townsend Band
Street Corner Seranade -
Mo-Town Song - Rod Stewart
Same Old Song - 4 Tops
Lie To Me - Johnny Lang
Then a double shot of the Temptations w/ My Girl and Just Your Imagination
Now I understand most of you guys probably don't have this stuff but for weddings with those 35-40 plus year old old rockers, they can really get into this kind of mix. Just a thought. Worked well, in this situation.

My big set, that usually get's the older crowd moving is a 60's set.

I start with slow....
Unchained Melody - Righteous Brothers
Can't Help Falling In Love - Elvis
to Fast
Build Me Up Buttercup - The Foundations
Run Around Sue - Dion
Twist & Shout - Beatles
Mony Mony - Tommy James and the Shondels
or
Brown Eyed Girl - Van Morrison
or
Grease Medley

That last pic is depending on how the crowd is reacting, and what direction I wish to take them. Because from each of those last choices, I can take the crowd into 3 different directions.

Stevie, man I like that mix too. In fact, just playing with it - I dropped second Temp and went with your run and hey it was good. Love messin' wit the old stuff like this - plus - the older crowd gets to feel like part of the plan for a while. This weekend have another weeding with basically the same demographics so I'm working on using your set and my set as one set. Not settled in yet about the order. Let you know what songs I go with and how it went.

J@ck@$$, U bet I'll use them somewhere, always looking for a new and different route to take. Like I said, got a wedding this weekend and the bride wants a mix of 60's,70's,80's and 90's. Say's there will be lots of aunt's and uncle's there who will enjoy the type of mix we've been bangin' around in this thread. Thanx for the idea.
Even thought about using Rod Stewart's (w/ Ronald Isley) cover of This Old Heart of Mine. Thanx. Let you Know how it turns out.
