I got a request for The Ketchup Song for an upcoming gig. I had never heard the song before nor did I have the tune so I went out and bought it. It's a catchy tune and I guess it has a dance that goes with it like the Macarena. Anyone know much about the tune? Is it getting popular? Is it the next big song with specific dance moves?

Your thoughts?

I've got the video of the song, but usually only get a request for it if the crowd is a little younger (junior high). What I like about it is no bleeping. It's a nice, clean song.

Anyone every tried to bleep all the curse words to Puddle of Mudd's "She Hates Me"? The video is really funny, but I invariably end up missing a word here or there. I need to find an edited version of the vid. lol

the ketchup song and macarena both suck. someone should shoot those one-hit-wonder writing bafoons. i guess if it's requested you have to play it, but i would avoid it at all costs. djs have feelings too. Frowner Razzer

Hello out there! The stupider the song, the more likely it is to become a party anthem.Since when does it matter what YOU like? Are you a DJ or a music critic? If it makes the crowd happy, play it.

I agree the song is pretty stupid but hey people love it and if it is requested it gets played. Trying not to be like a DJ Whore, i'll play anything if it keeps the floor full. What can I say, it pays the bills!

But it's huge here in Australia, it's been in the top 20 Aria Dance Chart now for well over 6 months and sat a no.1 for four of them.

Not tryin' to sound mean or judgemental by any means here, just giving my 2 cents... Smiler

There's always going to be songs that us DJ's don't care for or get real tired of, but hey, it's our job, it's what we do...we entertain and play what the paying customers want. For example, I get tired of hearing the YMCA, but I play it at practically all my gigs. People are at our events to have fun and enjoy some tunes (cheesy or cool)...so, my likes and dislikes of songs goes out the window when I enter a gig that I'm playing. I'm there to play what THEY want to hear. I'd much rather leave a gig with smiles on my customers faces and money in my pocket, than stand around and argue with people at the place who want to hear something that I don't want to play simply based on "my" tastes.

Again, just my 2 cents.

I kinda can put up with those songs reason being cuz I don't play em at home at all, just at gigs. You know what gets me thinking though. It seems all us mobile DJ's all end up playing the same kinda music and specifically the very same songs as every other DJ around the country. I like to try and be a little different but it's hard when every gig your getting the same requests. I always throw in some stuff that no-one has heard before, or hardly anyone at least. These are always very dancable songs. I'd just like to do a whole night of that kinda thing, but I don't think I would be able to get away with it. What are some of the off the wall songs that some of you guys like to play if in fact you do??????? I'll list some of mine later.
