When you are using TT's and want to scratch, do you just use one or do you have one to scratch on and one with a drum loop running on it. I've always wondered about that. When I hear ppl scratching, there is never a silent spot. I just don't understand.

I have another question. Does scratching actually scratch (damage) the vinyl record?

When people are scratching during a song, they have one deck with the record that they wanna scratch the signal on, and they use the fader to let in the scratch as the other deck plays.

Thats a pretty basic way of saying it. there is more to it.

It also depends if you are doing tricks or just cutting, if you are juggling you would need two copies of the same track, whether it be cd or vinyl, where as just scratching you can play one song from any source (cd or vinyl) and just scratch with preferably your stronger hand.

DAMAGED RECORDS:
There really isn't any difference between a battle record, and the regular record. This all depends on the needle you use, and my BANANA needles are by far my favorite.

Practice:
When it comes to Scratching you have to put a lot of time practicing on the tables to understand it.

Scratching Without A Beat:
Scratching solo without a beat is good for practicing your scratches. If there is a scratch you want to execute & learn i highly suggest to try learning that scratch without a beat.

Scratching With A Beat:
If you practice a scratch with a beat in the backround that means you have mastered that certain scratch, and your ready to use it in a beat. Scratching with a beat helps you improve your control of your scratches, and helps you improve your rythem of scratching. Thats the importance of scratching.

Concept of Scratching Solo:
Scratching solo is cool, but it only sound good if your " GOOD " at it. It would be like listening to somebody who can't play the Guitar.
