Iam going to be the dj, for my schools pep rally, and i am running into a little bit of a problem. I have a while bunch of 12" w/ instruments, with i plan to play. But my main concern is involved with mixxing, the songs together. I will have to have seamless sounds inbetween songs. And my problem is i dont now how to do it that good

so if someone could give me a way to mix hip hop that would be very nice, i cant keep sounding like a broken recored, hahahaha

drew, I think you are giving people way too much credit. . . not everyone will honestly be worried about how you mix, it's more or less your song selection that they will be paying attention to. . . beat mixing will come to you over time, it's not something that happens overnight. Don't worry man, if you aren't mixing perfect, cause that's not what they are there for, they are they to support the school sports teams. . . . you are just there to supply music. . . it'll be all good man. . . just have some confidence in yourself, the one thing i'm not too sure that the instrumentals are necessary, unless that's what they asked for. Stick to what's hot, what's popular. . and be interactive.

Hip hop is alot easier to mix than trance and all. Its all about the Beat and i doubt if people arent really gonna be bothered if u dont get a clean mix everytime....

If you really have problems... then i suggest u mix the songs on a computer and burn it on a cd. although i dont like doing this but if the technology is there Use it... Smiler

FALSE!!! TOTALLY AND COMPLETELY FALSE . . . . now Rhue, I love you man, don't get me wrong, but with all the beats flying around in hip hop, and a million and one tempo's to mix between it's not easier in any sense of the word. . .don't hate man. . .everytime I see people's playlists I notice one thing, they stick withing a specific bpm range. . . now isn't that considered easy?

CLIPUPTAGS is totally right....

Rhue..your the best ... but HIP HOP is a bit
HARDER to mix when your trying to BPM match it..
Sometimes its totally impossible,,WHY???
HIP HOP today is very open with beats meaning
Do you ever really hear the same beat ?? its
always differnt fast..slow..Up , Downbeat,,etc,,
It can give you a real headache trying to find
the right song to mix if your tring to mix
hip hop on a BPM method...thats why alot of
hip hop DJ's juggle ..scratch..and throw the
songs they mix in....unlike TRANCE , dance,house,
etc ,,where you have a steady beat of say 120 bpm
and another of 125bpm you can easily slow down
or speed up the song with the same or close to
drum beat and match it ,,hip hop Ussually never
has the same beat or speed and you need lots
of funky tricks to play around with..

But like i said DREW,,,or anyone wanting to mix
Hip hop....

You can BPM match hip hop it can be a pain..
but it can be done,,,just make sure you practice
and learn which song can go with which one..
ANd yes there are more funky ways ..like i said..
HIP HOP is fun to juggle with...take words and
breaks and Bounce them in and out of each other
Throw some scratching in there,,EVEN some MIXER
technics..are good to do ,,YES mixer technics..
there are so many and they can be fun and useful
Well i hope his helped a bit ...

Come on Rhue. I play almost everything, I think we had that question before, but HIP HOP is my preference. Ironically most not all hip hop is right around 90-105 bpm. When your mixing if you find that certain spot you can speed up or slow down and mix it nicely. We know what players I use and a helpful tool I always use if the beginning of a song is too short to get a good smoothe mix is the loop feature. I also use the Pro 500 in one of the clubs which has that handy loop feature. Cool
