So I just got my PSX's and mixer today. Popped in CD's and just messed around for hours. I noticed that while trying to scratch on CD's, the way the scratch sounds totally depends on where on the track you scratch it on. Some sounds are totally horrible, and sometimes, the scratch sounds perfect. Is there a place on the song that is usually the "sweet" spot? Like during the kick of the drum, snare, vocals, etc.? Thanks for your help.

Well with the PSX your not gonna get the crisp scratch sound your looking for. You'll get that with the PS2, or the CDI 500. The scratching Technology on the PSX is the down-grade version of the PS2. So if your looking for a good scratch sound you'll probably get it with the KICK Drum with the PSX, or the famous " AAAAAAHHHHHH " scratch sound that every DJ, and Their mother, and Dogs use to scartch with.

u can use that aaaaahhhhhh sound on pretty much any player with or without a scratch mode and u'd get somthin that sounds like decent scratching.... as long as u know how to work ur fingers on the fader.... it'll sound alright....actually u can prolly fool people to think that it is scratching..... and for those who think otherwise.... well, i'll try to get a sample up to listen to....

and u 'are talkin about the "AAAHHHHH THIS STUFF IS REEAAALLLYY FRESH" sample right skilz??

lol....i dont know if ur being sarcastic or not but..... u dont really need to use the fader to be able to scratch "GOOD".....
but using the fader is just another technique that people use..... i mean, if u can scratch good wihtout it.... then thats great.... but u'll find that fader scracthes are quite fun and really sweet and yeah....alot of people do them.....
but ahh..... theres a pretty good link on skliz's web site (scratch tutorial) that covers pretty much all of the fader scratches....and they also have audio clips to listen to as well....

and BTW...

" as long as you know how to use the fader"

by this i was refering to that "AAHHH" sound....as in.... u can cue the "AAHH" sound and use the "bop" button together with the fader to acheive somthing that sounds pretty close to scratching (if not exactly like it)...

so... i hope that helps u in any way.... if not.... then.... i'll be glad to re-explain it all over again Big Grin Big Grin
