This one is for all of the mobile dj's or those interested in mobile dj'ing. . . how often do you find yourself beatmixing during gigs, what type of gigs do you notice that you do less beat mixing and more segues? If you are beatmixing the entire time, how interactive are you with your crowd?

I would say it really depends on the group. If they really get moving on one sytle of music ill do a set of it beatmixed. I alot of the time i like to "test" different styles, but once everyones moving i get a nice mix going.

not really sean, I do mobile and club work, and I am always beat mixing, I actually don't always play by genre, usually I play by bpm. . . honestly I can only think of one other person off the top of my head that can do that and that's Toad.

i was just pulling the piss hehehehe

whats funny is when i talk to lil mobile kiddies and someone mentions im a dj they go on about their beatmixing or whatever then i hear them at a party or something and theyre whipping out massively long 4 bar mixes that theyre barely holding together. they have no idea that an average mix of mine is 16 times as long as the one theyve just done, and tight from start to finish.

I hear ya on that sean, I'm the same way as you, of course I don't always have 5 minutes to mix, but in most cases, I'll do it anyway.

At parties over here it is like a club more like, the parties are for 14-19 year olds, the DJs always beat mix as they use a very club like setup. They are playing mostly house tunes (american dream, my vision, take me with you), high energy trance tunes (the theme, for an angel) and club remixes of the likes of eminem and christina aguilera, these are all mixed properly and are done with house being the warmup, then a mixture of trance and club remixes of mainstream tunes.

The kids here will dance to the club music because club music is more integrated into the younger generations in England than it is in America and the laws on raving and implications of laws are slightly less here.

Beat mixing for djs at parties for corporate functions and under 14s imop don't really need to beatmix but for when the crowd is of the age of going to clubs I feel it is necessary.

you can beatmix any style of music with the right amount of practice, beat mixing is just a style of DJing, it is not required but it does sound better then regular fading

How long do you beatmix 2 songs for? Soemtimes, I like to play around with an acapella of one song and an instrumental of another. You come up with some freaky combinations that cn sometimes sound pretty good!

How about beatmix transitions? How long do you usually make the transition? 32 beats?
