Im planning on buying the pro-scratch1 for a band that we are starting and to start up DJing gigs. I was wondering how well it works and if i should go for it or not. Any Feedback will be well appreciative. Thanks!

It works well depending on what application you are using it for. If you plan on doing heavy duty scratching, wait for the Pro Scratch 2 to come out do to the fact that it has Realtime Scratching, the Pro scratch 1 is very effective but it will take you some time to learn how to manipulate the scratch function to make it sound good for you!
but you may also not need the "dumpload" you may even want to research the PSX http://www.americandj.com/product.asp?ProductIDNumber=1061&cat=CD_Players Similar to the PS1 with a few less effects, if you are going table top, and don't require scratching or rely on "dumploads" of effects then you may prefer this particular unit, plus you have to love the black. . . . .
I know your saying go for the PS2 but frankly i dont have that kind of money right now. Can i still do the job with the PS1. Also the wait!! i wanna get crakin on this project know

I actually had a ps1 and tried using it for the use that you are saying, and it really is hard to do the job. Seriously, you can do some sort of ok vocal scratch drops, but nothing that sounds convincing, and no transforms, flares, etc. You would be much better off saving the extra $200 and getting a ps2, which you could actually use for what you want. i currently own a PS1 system and i was just wondering if i can use these for mixing trance music. will i be able to do the same mixing and beat juggling as in record turntables?
oh yea..what is beat juggling by the way? i'm new at this myself too. the only type of music i'll be playing are trance, hard house, progressive trance, vocal...etc.. would this system do the work?
another question i wanna ask is..how do i take the beats out of one song and throw in different beat while playing the current song. like for instance i'm playing 1 trance song on the left cd player and wanting to continuously play that song but instead of keeping the beats of that song, i'd like to throw in breakbeats from the other cd player to make it come together...i've heard dj's from other parties done it and i'd like to learn how to that. would you help me??

If you guys want to create, and do all of these things then your going to need to right tools. (A man is not going to build a house with just a hammer.) The PS1's were the First CD players in the world that had Real Time Scratching. Now, because it was the first and the technology wasn't exactly there yet, it was not very close to the accurate stage yet. You can scratch with the PS1, but beat juggling is something different, and can only be done with the PS2's. Now if you want to do accuarte scratching, and beat juggling your going to have to get the PS2's. No questions about it, try not to float around this subject by telling me you don't have the money right now to get them, because if you don't want the PS2's then your not going to be able to achieve the accurate scratching, and beat juggling. The PS2's are specially designed for Beat Mixing, Scratching, Beat Juggling, Creating effects, and useing your own style on the players.

hey skilz, just wanted to ask you about mixing trance on PS1. is it possible for me to do that? i don't really care about scratching cuz it doesn't really sound good if you scratch on trance or house. what do you recommend me getting to mix trance and house? are the ****** XL500 good? or should i stick wit american audio 2.2? and what kind of mixer should i use for an amateur dj ?

You can mix whatever you want on whatever instrument you choose, the PS1 and PSX are perfect for mixing trance, and all forms of music whether it's dance, hip hop, polka etc . . . The PS2 is more or less a tool for the digitalist, or the digital turntablist. . . whatever you feel most comfortable on is what's best for you, go to your local dj shop and test them, see which better suits your needs and then decide. I'm assuming by the 2.2 question you are looking at analog turntables also, they are excellent turntables, good torque motor, heavy duty turntable.
