Im new to the entire aspect of scratching - i usually just do beat mixing but im interested in learning how to scratch with CD's - I currently have the Axis-8 and am hoping to get a PS-2 soon. Anyways - i was wondering where i could learn a few scratching techniques - is there a book or video or something i could see to learn this stuff? Id be interested in finding out how all of you learned it? Thanks

Interesting method of teaching there DJ SKILZ. Well, just experiment with different methods if you're comfortable with doing that. I haven't done CD scratching, or turntabling, but I'm just usin' common sense. If ya use common sense to figure things out, chances are, you'll end up find the easiest, quickest route to victory. Oh, and DJ SKILZ, its nice to meet an Administrator with a sense of humor! Most Administrators I've met in person, or have spoken to are uptight, no fun kinda peoples...nice to know there are friendly people who will deal with the crappy stuff of maintaining sites, and other complicated computer tasks!

The best way to do anything is put your mind to it. That's how I got so far in piano (11 yrs to be exact). It wasn't just the fact that I liked it enough to do it, it was the fact that when I did it, it sounded really cool. When I compose stuff on the piano, it sounds really cool when melodies come together to make something that sounds good. Then you're proud of what you made, and want to make more. Same thing with mixing. When I mixed my first MP3s together, I was bouncin' up and down in my chair I was so excited that I did it. I think that's why people become DJs. Because the like it when stuff THEY made comes together and sounds good. It sounds good, people like it, people like you for it, and you get people movin' to YOUR music. You feel a sense of pride in your work that you can't really get in most jobs. Anywayz, thats my bit of philosophy for this minute, next minute I'll be blurtin' more somewheres else!

Actually, I've played Classical, Acoustic piano for all the 11 years, cuz my teacher only believed in the traditional Royal Conservatory books. We never played anything else except for what was in our books...But in the means of Keyboard programming, I honestly don't know much, but probably wouldn't take me long to learn! Did I mention I have a logical brain which lets me figure things out quickly?? LOL. Like I said, if I had moved to a larger city earlier, I would've been able to do A LOT more stuff than I did in my small, little hometown. But, unless I learned, I don't think I'd be much use to you anywayz considering I live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Just a LITTLE outta ur way.

not necessarily out of my way, just a few hours no big deal i mean really skilz invites me over to play with his ps2 all the time and he's in vegas lol. but no biggie my fav team is still the flames, too bad that fleury had to come here, lol and too bad joey nieuwendyk, gary roberts, al macinnis, and gary suter had to leave , . . . . damn free agency. . . . .
Yeah...my parents are the hockey fanatics. You go all the way from NY to Las Vegas just to play with DJ SKILZ PS2?? My goodness, you must have the money then. I've barely left my own country, let alone been to the other side of it. But in the terms of the Flames...I think our Football team is way better...The Stampeders! Anywayz, back to the topic of conversation...LOL

Yeah man, everybody comes over to my house all the time, and we sit around for hours playing the PS2, and the PS1 ( LAUGHING ) and the Gamecube, and the XBOX, and the Dreamcast. You should come down too one day !

Well, hasn't this discussion strayed from its original post. Hey, if I could come down and play games with peoples, I probably would, but its just that I don't have any money to do it! Sounds like you people have more money than I do...I only have a Playstation 1 and a compouter that's leavin' me soon

Wassup??? I own 2 Pro Scratch 1's and I was wondering how you scratch so perfectly on that effects CD released by American DJ and ERG??? Mostly I just do beat mixing. But I want to learn how to scratch on my CD Players. When I first bought the PS1's, I thought they would scratch exactly like a real turntable, but when I gave them a try, I quickly learned that they are far from a real turntable scratch!!
