1. what would you suggest for a very beginner? 2. the difference of a direct drive or a belt drive?? 3. which should I start with and what ones better? I just called the local pawn shop and they have 2 direct drives turntables?? ARE THEY MEANT FOR DJS?? IM jw because I have a gut feelin that they are but I am not sure? but they have 2 and they are names that aren't dj company names... so should I go and get 1? but will it be worth it for $75 (canadian)... basically I am just wondering if you would sugg3st what I should start with and if the direct drive at the pawn shop would let me scratch just like I see dj Skilz doin?? thanksss djcorbett |

Corbett,
If they are not meant for DJ'ing, don't waste your money. That means the tonearm will be designed for decent tracking for regular playback....NOT scratching. It means the platter will also not be as stable as a TT designed for the rigors of DJing. They won't help you develop your "Skilz" like Skilz. Yadda Yadda. 1) The new HTI-1.8, or Power Drive 2.2. 2) A direct Drive uses magnets to rotate the platter, and Belt drive uses a belt. Belt drives can work well, but they don't hold up quite as well as DD TT's. 3) answered up at 1. Look for Power Drives. They can be found for under $175 used or refurbed. They are great TT's. |
