None of my stuff came through....

Any ways,

I was just saying that I was just starting out. I was wondering what to buy to learn how to dj. As for as turntables,mixers...etc.

I've seen packages that sell what appears to be required but I'm not sure.

I'll be mainly trying to dj hip-hop and reggae/dancehall if that helps. Cool

Definitely long term. Although I don't have long-term money at this moment to invest into really nice equipment.

How much money are you looking to spend. "A little" can mean $500 or $5000 depending on who you talk to in here.

Can I ask your age? My brother is going through the samething right now trying to start out. I know it is not going to last with him.

If you are young, I would still recommened not dropping every last penny you have. But spend enough so that you can atleast get a decent experience out of this. Again, a dollar figure would help. Smiler

I'm 25. I've been wanting to do this for years. I have a local DJ who may take me under their wing. (crossing my fingers)

I can't spend more than $500 right now. Unfortunately I just got laid off a couple weeks ago.

I'm so into Music! I can get a lot better equipment when I get more money. Just looking for something to learn on.

Thanks for your help by the way.

^^Plus he also needs speakers, and an amp. Or powered speakers, but either way that would be his whole 500 on those two things. Frowner

but then again.. you really don't need live sound.. you can run everything off a head phone. If you got only $500.. i recommend a TT, and a Mixer, and just plug in the headphone off the mixer, and listen to it that way.
