what would you say is the biggest difference between a straight tone arm and an S-tone arm?

I'm no expert but I've heard it on good authority that a straight arm seems to have better tracking and because it's "straight" is more balanced than an S shape. Keep in mind that good tracking is the result of well maintained and precise quality heads and cartidges, anti-skating, height adjustment and weight. The arm shape has only a minor impact on overall tracking ability therefore shouldn't be a factor in purchasing a turntable.
ROQ out. |

Some people swear that a straight arm tracks better, but if that is true. Then why do approx. 75% of turntablists still use the 1200's????
