Just wondering if anyone on here knows what some of the setups the big guys use? Such as Ferry Corsten or Benny Benassi. I'm also really interested in learning the type of setup groups like Chemical Brothers or VNV Nation use. I saw the Chemical Brothers live once and couldn't believe the amount of equipment that they were using.

Also, since I'm on the topic of setups, what would you reccomend for someone starting out with an interesting in techno/trance/club?

Thanks,

World

Professor,
These is more to turntablism than just scratching.... If you don't believe me. Watch the documentury "Scratch". These guys are all turntablists, but they do much more that wicki wicki. These guys turn their tables into instruments.

Nice one Stevie an excellent documentary amd highly recommended for those who think that turntablism is all glory and no work.

Worldtraveller I don't think anyone (unless you're one of their crew members) can tell you the specifics of their setups. There are all sorts of sound modules and synths available that are designed with the DJ in mind for live performances. Have a look at the R0land and B0ss range of gadgets. I guess what you do for a live performance is only limited by your imagination and wallet. Good luck

ROQ out.

Drew, Are you calling me sarcastic???
Or do you mean that the professor was the one being sarcastic, and yes I have seen sarcasm hurt (feelings).

Lol, I should know that there is more to turntablism than just wicki wicki as I have been scratching for as long as I have been a dj (almost 10 years), and have done everything from battle to scratching for everything from hip hop groups to jazz groups. At the same time though the groups that he mentions (especially VNV Nation) have little to nothing to do with tablism. Then again though Tablism is a word that should probably die anyway as it really has stopped representing what we do (does a guitarist call his music "guitarism"?). Oh well, another rant for another day.
