Welcome to the Forum. I understand what your trying to say about how CD players don't have the vinyl feel, or touch. Thats why American Audio came out with there brand new product called the " Digi Pro ". This CD player will let you control the CD with a piece of Vinyl. In other words you can scratch on vinyl, but control the CD at the same time. Hard to believe? Go check out www.americandj.com and click on press release. If you have anymore questions regarding this subject post it in the Audio section. Thanks. Smiler

I use both turntables and CD players! My CD players Pro DJ 2's don't have the scratch feature so Iuse my Technics direct drive table! I want to upgrade to the Pro Scratch 1 CD player with scratch but they are too expensive for a 14 year old DJ like me! Skilz do you know if there will be a deal going on where they will get cheaper or if there is a way to win one or something like that?
Thanks
DJ Speed Dee

I use to say that I would never go to cd players as a DJ, but I learned pretty quick that moving around and being in places hotter than most places here in the states, wax melts and gets destroyed and cds backed up with a hard drive, your music is forever. Technology these days, you still sound the same, you just use a different technique.

Thanks DJ SKILZ I really appreciate that! Also DJ SKILZ, did you do the mix scratchilicious? I heard it and it was very cool! I wanted to know if you did this mix. Did you find anything about the Pro Scratch 1's? My B-Day is on th 13th of December and I want to try to get them either for my B-Day or Christmas!
Thanks DJ SKILZ

I acctually just mix with vynil but i just bought 2 days ago a set of pro dj 1 cd players...im 17 and anything above that is too expensive for me...in the club where i dj, they have pioneer 500 CD players and the pioneer 600 Mixer with bpm counter, real cool stuff, but too expensive, but i noticed that the american dj stuff is just the same and affordable! I was lucky and found one shop ( here in austria) that imports the american dj eqipements ( HEHE)....so now i use vynil and cd, and can profit from both ....cds just dont have that cool vinyl sound and feeling ....DJ CELL
(hope u al understand my english..hehe my mother tongue is acctually german ;-)

I just got into the business recently, and decided to start off with a pair of ADJ CD players, and skip right by vinyl. I see what you mean about "Turntablism" involving turntables, but the problem is that you can't just go to your local store and buy that new release on vinyl. I have a friend who went with Vinyl, and it seems like all he does is go online looking for new records, and play the music. There is a trade off, but I think CD is going to come out on top.

Play a variety of music, but never sell out the genre you love!

When I stred djing I had one turntable and 2 portable cd players. I coulnt find anything good on Vinyl in my area. Tennessee doesnt have the selection like LA might have, there arent many Djs here that use Vinyl. If I had the selection without shopping online, I woulndt be using CD players. I have founf them to be easier to use, and cheaper. I aggree that CDs have come out to be on top of everything else.

DJ Cell,
Your English is great, so don't worry about it. What shop did you get your Pro Scratch 1's at? I opened up the European Market for us over there, we had a distributor MSV in Vienna.
Welcome to the board.
DJ Serkus,
SKILZ is right, the reason we came out with the DIGI PRO is that real Turntabilist want the actual FEEL of vinyl, so this way all you have to carry is your CD's and ONE piece of vinyl.

VINYL RULEZ! yes, is use cds too, they are cheaper and more common, but i think real mixing just has to be done with vinyl, the feeling of the record on your finger tips and that freakin cool scratch sound...no cd can do that! besides scratches sound every time different , there are no samples, you never can get exactlx the same scratch again....here in vienna you still can a lot of vinyl if you look hard enough , i know enough shops where ic an order my stuff, and thx to dj skilz i order vinyl online! You just cant play hip hop or house with cds, its not the same BRING THE TURNTBLES BACK TO LIVE!!!!

ehm john: just as a question, is there any possibilty of getting sponsored??? i dj a lot here in vienna besides school, now im on a short brake, but will start next year 2002 and gonna dj in some hot clubs. i djed one year in a club, in one of the most famous parts of vienna, acctualy the in the center! Lots of new dj know me and i introduced them to the MSV and of curse the American DJ equipement. Im a real fan of ameriacan dj and must say the quality is the same or even better ( e.g the pro scratch system is a lot better than pionner's system and cheaper and has more features!) Still most of the eqipement is too expensive for me...im not yet independant and still go zo school like all other austrians, next year im 18 and can do what i wanna do! pleasecontact me for any kind of information selwyn_rogers@web.de , thanks a lot

Hey John, nice to meet you.
I just above about you opening your European market with MSV in Austria. We've got an MSV here in Middlesbrough, England. I know it sells the "not found in your average electric store" items, i.e HUUUUGE TV's, B&O Sound Systems etc. Surely they don't stock your products, i'll kick myself silly if they do, cuz its only 10 mins away and I buy my stuff from Birmingham.

Laterz !!
