For some reason, my turntable started putting out a very distorted sound today. It's never done it before, and nothing was red lining anywhere along the signal path, and the speakers are fine. I seem to have solved the problem (sort of) by increasing the counterweight's force, giving the cart more tracking force.
any ideas, or was that all it was? |

What kind of table, and Cart?
Check the stylus, if someone needle dropped on the slip mat or some animal (like a cat) hit something, and maybe bent the stylus a little. It could be from that. Just an observation since increasing the tracking weight "seemed" to have fixed it. |

Make sure you keep your gain below +6db... I make sure i peak mine on 0 to +3db.
VInyl will always tend to distort beyond that range. |

lol, yeah As soon as i put some vinyl on this thing, i regretted it, not nearly enough torque. As for the gain thing, i don't have that option on my mixer, which is yet another reason why i upgraded to a Q-MX2. bye-bye, r@dio$h@ck!!! Hey stevie, will you pay shipping? |
