If you were talking to me about if it works good, I don't know. I don't have it. But yes you are right you still have to take requests and talk, but it makes djing easier than it already is, because it can automaticaly switch to the next song.

excuse me Jim Wilson, but just because some of use don't use turntables and digi-decks does NOT mean we aren't DJs. You forget the MIXING part of the job eh? Mobile DJs such as myself do not do much turntablism at events mostly because ppl do not want to hear it where we go. Kids at school dances think its cool at first, but after 3 hours of it they don't want anymore, they just want to hear their music. Weddings are obviously not the appropriate place and time for that either. Not to mention most sweet 16s are not too keen on the dance with daddy being interrupted by some guy who keeps scratching his skills all over their lovely moment. Don't get me wrong, turntablism and digital turntablism are awesome, I would love to try it, but the kind of gigs we do just aren't in to that. I'd appreciate it if you would try not judge people like that too quickly, I don't think anyone on this forum would really appreciate their work being put down. Thanks for reading- DJ JayG

Here at American DJ as well as many other forums all of the artforms available in the DJ community are fully endorsed, what some of you feel as non-dj to others may appear to be gold, please refrain from making empty comments that blatantly bash forum members, honestly it is getting quite annoying, gear does not make a dj, the dj makes the best of his/her gear, simple as that. I am one of many "digital dj's" and to be honest i am ashamed that I can no longer just be a DJ because there are still some vinyl junkies that haven't realized the advances in CD technology. This is an ongoing battle, and I am sure it will never end because the naturalists think they are right, but where would we be today if grand wizard theodore hadn't "invented" the scratch??? would we be so concerned had the principles of scratching not be defined, and blending of music was the only possible method of mixing.
amen! Couldn't have said it better myself. I dont knwo why people dont think that just because your a digital dj your not a dj. Turntables may have been one of the first on the scene. How would you like it if one day the digital dj got bigger than the turntable dj & started saying you weren't a dj anymore because your stuff was so outdated? You wouldn't really like it. Keep your comments to yourself

if u dont use tables its not djing, scratching and fading and all that is real djing, playing mp3s is really boring playing one song after another without any scratching or anything, but i dont truly believe "djing"at weddings is really djing its just playing continual "golden oldies".Tables get more attention because the first thing when u think of a dj is decks not a laptop, sure if your doing actual mixes its allrite but when your using a computer to play songs? why not be a real dj and use decks or digital turntables thank u

Jim, whether you use turntables,cd players, reel to reel, 8 track, whatever, if you have the ability to mix music well or even at an entry level with the hope of getting better from practice you are and will become a better dj. As for weddings being the golden oldies parties I suggest coming here, it's not like that at the weddings I have done, at least in the past 5 years, sure there are some requests for oldies but if you had any actual knowledge you would note that many couples are getting married at a younger age, hence they like newer music, also a lot of radio stations here that are top 40/pop formats play a lot of the newest r&b and dance tracks and even the "old people" love them. If you want to come out my way and see this for yourself, be my guest. Mobile work for some is just sitting there and pressing buttons, yeah right do you think everyone goes into mobile just to push buttons??? Some people think that all you need is an MC, well I can disagree, I hate microphones, can't touch 'em, I have the ability to get people to have a good time by reading the crowd, and generally when i slip something they don't expect they love it. However I do have an amazing chemistry with a few MC's where a certain look lets me know where we are headed. Don't bash mobile work till you have seen and heard all of the facts, sure some people play radio edit's of club songs, not me, the weddings I do are treated just like the clubs, the sweet 16's the christenings, the mixing is consistent, and so what if you have to drop a few oldies, as long as everyone's dancing and having a good time there's no problem.
well I am a freestyle dj and I kinda get tired of carrying all my crates every thursday, friday, and saturday.....I have 2000 records of freestyle alone.......
I really want those pioneers but if the american dj are what skillz say they are then I would get those and maybe transfer all my records to cd's..You can like fit 6 entire records to one cd which then would make it a whole lot easier for me if you get what I am saying...
Too Good to be true!

I don't there's anything wrong with digital DJ's. Think about it, electronica and dance music was orginally composed by computers. Intrumental Musicians thought it was a fad that wouldn't last but look at it now. Remember "numbers", "Tour de France"? completely computerized using computer driven analog electronic devices, which in turn derived the developement of beat machines, electronic Keyboards, and midi devices. When you think about it. It makes for a cheaper way of talented people to make the music happen, as well as limitless possibilities for the direction the industry could take.
