I just ordered two HTD 4.5's. But, damn is there ever a lot of turntables using this platform!

Here is the list.

Stanton ST/STR8-150
Stanton T.120
American Audio HTD 4.5
Citronic PD-45/45mk2
Synq XTRM1
Akiama Acura DJ-4000
Reloop RP6000MK5
Ominitronic DD5250
N(u)mark TT1/TT2

Here is a good article discussing the innards of these decks, http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfish/trurl_load?url...t/view/3/5/&lp=nl_en

Let me explain that to you why it's like that...

If #'s 1,2,3,4,5,& 6 were all competitors against eachother. And they all bought products from # 20. Then # 20 is gonna have to try to tweek the products just a little bit for each # to make them different for each #. But then in the end it's all basically the same looking product because they all came from # 20. Wink

Well what I figured is this...

It makes perfect business sense, really. Why spend all that money and time on R&D if there is a platform that works. Obviously, everyone is trying to make a deck to steal a piece of this niche from Technics. But until now, there wasn't a truly competitive platform. N(u)mark did try with their TTX1 and had some success.

I'm just coming back from a year I took off from spinning. I spun with the HTD's last month for a fundraiser and I was very impressed. My last decks were 1200M5G's but they are too damn expensive! So I had to make a choice between ST-150's & the HTD's. Originally I ordered the Stanton's but there is not stock through my dealer in Canada! Also, they can get AA products waaaay faster. So I decided to go with these decks instead. Now I just have to wait for my Final Scratch 2, grrrrr!

I'm glad there is an alternative that is very high quality, has more features and HALF the price!

The one thing to keep in mind with all these different decks that look alike, and are very much alike. American Audio is the only one with a 2 year warranty, and a manufacturer backed user forum.... Big Grin Yaaaayyyyy for us Big Grin
