I have now purchased the pro-mix cual mp3 controller and i'm starting to dj...
I'm in trouble because i can't find the way to make the pro-mix correctly count bpm.
I made a test: i made some drum tracks with fruity loops with a fixed bpm rate to test the counter and I found put that it doesen't recognize correctly bpms. So,now i'm desperate!What can i do to resolve the problem?
Can anybody help me to solve this BIG problem??

Beat mix by ear. Its not too difficult once you get the hang of it, and most of the time way more accurate.

Here's how I do it.
Download a beatmapper from downloads.com. Sort your tracks by BPM into different folders. Than it's pretty easy. Cause you know what BPM the songs have.
The beatcounter of Pro Mix doesn't work at all.

the beat counter of promix does work, mind you. but like what drew has said, it would be best for you, especially in the long run, to learn to beatmatch using your ear. who would need the pitch controls if people would just rely on bpm counters/matchers and other automated approaches?? trust me, automating your mixing would kill all creativity in you.

Two year and more after i'm here to say something about the controller.
This year i worked as a resident dj in a discopub,i used my promix.
The bpm count works if you tap on it...
I noticed a lot of little problems with it...The program isn't so professional. I mean that i used sometimes Tracktor by NI and it's a goood prog!It has a lot of features developped in a professional manner.
I learnt to beatmix by ear, using effects(that work in an ugly mode,i mean the echo ends if you stop the song,they're not realtime or you can't start them in time with the beats of the song,so useless),scratching(but can you call scratch?Try the tracktor,and you'll feel the best,you can spin more like a turntable!..).If only Adj would release the api of the controller it could be used with the paradise called Tracktor(the best for the new era Dj)....But they don't ear...Why?

You do realize that the Pro-Mix controller and software, where the first of it's kind. The only other option really on the market was **** with the Newmark controller. The pro-mix, was 10 times the other options out there when it was released. Yes now there are quite a few much more viable PC based solutions, but it took a few years.

Now the best is Tracktor. So why Adj don't want to release the api, or something better to develop an interface for the pro-mix with the good software? It could be a second life for the controller(actually a really goood hardware),and maybe Adj could restart selling this good hardware with a good software...
