I just got 2 PS2's and a mixer and I was wondering where I can find beats and scratch samples to scratch, and can I buy them at any store or can I only buy them online (a site would be really helpful). I was also wonderin' what do you guys use to practice, I'm more into the Hip-Hop scene. Thanks in advance for the help!

I guess you can start with Digital Scratch Traxx (I haven't tried it so I do not know if it's any good) or do as I did went thru a lot of old school tracks and ripped them on my computer, then edit cut/paste the good samples and finally burn it on CDR. Or you can buy some battle records like "battle breaks" on vinyl and record it on a computer and then burn them on CDR.

All ways are good except the bad ones... but sometime the bad ones can lead to good ones :-)

Here's my $.02:

For beats, get a song you that has a beat you like. Find a nice break in the song, and loop it. Instant background beat. Smiler

For samples, search the web (www.google.com) for some WAV files of vocals or sound effects. Get a bunch, burn them to CD. Scratch that. Search for 'vocal WAV', 'DJ samples WAV', etc.

You can also find WAV files of beat loops for a program called ACID by Sonic Foundry, and burn those to CD too. www.google.com, and search for 'ACID loops'

If you want to make your own beats up, two good programs are 'Reason' (pricey) and 'Fruity Loops' (less pricey). You can then save your beats as WAV files, and then burn them to CD.

Thanks for the help guys, I did what you guys told me and I wanted more vocals to scratch w/ (preferably Hip-hop) but all I could find was ****py ones. I was wonderin' what program to use for just ripping vocals off songs (if possible). Or do I have to find vocals and then cut and put thme on a cd?
