Is it effective to hook up a laptop to a mixer (mini to RCA) with two vinyl tables already hooked up, and just take samples and insert them, or mix with it? What kind of mixer would be best for this type of work?

I was also thinking, everyone seems to agree that we should embrace the future. Sure, CD realtime scratching and beat mixing is great, but what about new equipment which allows for normal vinyl turntables to allow scratching of MP3's from a laptop (with only one sound card ;-) ? Why get accustomed to using a totally new system? It also speeds up the way tracks are cued on vinyl. You can cue 10x the amount of songs as normal vinyl. Also, there is the possibility of sampling. This to me seems like the future. It combines both types of equipment.

BTW, the American DJ product that allows for vinyl scratching with a CD source; does it have an adapter for two or more tables? Roll Eyes Confused

I think you are referring to the Digi-Pro http://www.americandj.com/product.asp?ProductIDNumber=1013&cat=CD_Players. For each turntable you would need a different Scratch Box, and in order to scratch on the dual deck you will need the specially coated vinyl for the scratchin.
