I have gathered info from a few sources and i am now turning to the electronic world of DJ culture for advice. I know that it is not the gear that makes a good DJ but a good DJ that makes the gear. So, does the fact that turntables are belt drive matter that much. I realize that their will be some dif because if there wasn;t then ther eouwld not eb direct drive. Is the difference large or minimal and is ther anyway to avoid it?

thanks

Direct drives can take the beatings. A belt turntable has to be used with more care because the torque is not as strong like the direct.

It's all about what works for ya.

Does it matter which slice of bread get's peanut butter and which one get's jelly? Well direct drive will have more power behind it, as belt driven are just that, belt powered, so it may take longer to get going, belts can snap etc . . .
