alright.. I have a cdi 500.. and I am just running a normal cd player on the other side of the mixer.. and I am thinking about getting a turntable...not an expensive one.. just one i can learn with....(directdrive)... but I am only going to get 1 to start learning for now... do you think that having that and a cdi500 would be ok?? like only gettin 1 turntable?? alot of people have said that it makes no sence jus 2 get 1.. i wanna though because I wanna learn how to "really" scratch... and besides the turntabl plugs into the phono imput..so since i have a 2 channel; mixer i can just plug my other cd player into line 1 while the turntable can be like phono 1 and my cdi500 in the line 2... i dont know though??

SHOULD I GET JUST 1 TURNTABLE TO LEARN? please help..it was going to be an xmas present just for myselfSmiler lol thankss.. c ya

Corbett,
If I were you (especially if you don't have vinyl) I would get another CDI-500 first. Then watch ebay to get a turntable. You can find good deals on decent used turntables like the PowerDrive 2.2 for around $100 on eBay. If you get a turntable now, you will be limited on your mixing, as you would have to go from CD to vinyl to CD each time you want to mix, since home stereo CD players aren't the greatest for beat mixing.

Yeah, add another 500 first, then get a turntable later. It will be much easier to learn mixing with two of the same (players) at first. Especially if you don't have alot of vinyl.

alright guys thanks alot for the advice...sorry it took so long for me to reply I have been very busy...
what I think I am going to do is get anotheer cdi500 first..only because that is my only good cd player at the moment and I have no other "professional" cd players.. so for christmas I am going to get myself a new mixer with the bpm counter on it because I find that will help me out alot...

1 more thing.. any idea where I can get a box or my cdi500? thanks alot guys..

Why the BMP counters on the CDI are pretty good, plus you can turn them on and off as needed, so you don't become completely dependant on them like a crutch. Just my .02.
