Hey all,
Just got back from having to return my ps2 due to a "bad chip". The ADJ tech had told me that I had one of the last units with this problem. When I was watching the ps2 video again last night I was wondering how come the ps2 units that were used did not have this problem if it was common. Im a bit nervous about having to order two new units which could have the same problem, grainy distorted scratch output after a few seconds of scratching or reverse playing at a higher pitch.

I saw that d**on has a unit the s5000 out, it's a bit more than two ps2's combined, what's the suggestion from pro's out there about my situation since im starting out again as a hobbiest or mabye do side work here and there.

I think I got caught up in all the features and technical BS of each unit and I want my money's worth and to have a unit that I can really do great things with. The experience of buying a defective ps2 has me second guessing now and I need some constructive insight.

kaotik, you made a wise decision buying a unit that has more features and is half the price. You should know with full confidence that a) you are protected by a two year warranty, and the right thing is being done. I swear by my Pro Scratch 2's and Velocity, and have not had an issue, I have had my PS2's since they have been out. Give it one more shot, any electronic component can have a problem, it's how it gets resolved that should tell you something, and by all means I am sure that American DJ is doing the right thing by getting you a brand spanking new unit right? Some of the other companies will have you wait 2 months before you even get a phone call back, I know, I've been there. . . .and I still have a bum cdj 700 . . .

Kaotic,

Its unfortunate that it was you that ended up with the lemon unit, the odds of getting that defective unit are slim at best. Like Clip said, don't think for a second that the competition units are perfect either.

Let me reassure you once you get your new PS2s in full working order, you'll never look back. Good luck.

ROQ out

personally i would buy the de**ns, and i did and i love them everyday. very reliable, lots of features, but not worth buying for a beginner due to price and its straight out harder to use.

but i do suggest i the future upgrade to d**ons because they will run as long as you can.

peace

Element,
Please do not promote American Audio's competition on these forums. I as well own a pair of 5000s, and yes they are great players. But everybody has different preferences, and there are different players to suit different needs. Also speaking of reliability, the PS2's have a track record around 3 years. The 5000's have only been around for about 1 year. So it is hard to stake a claim of "they will run as long as you can." with only a years worth of service. Again they are great players, please just don't promote them here.

I also wish to say that you have posted many useful posts, and have been very helpful, so don't be upset, we still love to see your input.
