i am currently looking at buying either Analog tables..andhave considered the PS2.....but before i buy i know i need to try it and all..but what are some of the difference (aside from the obvious) between the Digital Cd Turntables and the actual Analog turntables, what advantages does one have over the other?, how good of a job does the digital turntable do of replicating the analog tables? and what advantage do i gain by purchasing a digital turntable over an analog one?...except for the fact that the digi is about $400-$500 more dollars than an analog table...so why would i spend more money on a digital than an analog table?
A digital turntable is in no way designed to replace the analog turntable, what it is is simply another tool to make the dj artform more creative. While similar to the feel nothing will feel 100% exact like an analog turntable. But the sound is there, and it's as close as it gets.
Some of the key features of the PS2 1. Seamless Looping, set your in point and that's the new cue point of the track. 2. Cue Points. No lifting the needle to find the first beat just press cue or bop and you are there. 3. More Compact, big time space saver, not only the deck but also your music library. 4. On board effects - no turntable comes with these options 5. Cd's are easily replaceable and don't warp (under normal conditions), while there's vinyl that's only pressed and released for short periods of time.
I could go on forever, but I'll let some other people chime in.
* Lighter....both CDs and equipment * Not many moving parts externally that can break off or get lost i.e tone arms, needles, slip mats * Easier to acquire CD music than Vinyl * You cannot burn your own Vinyl (easily) * CD media is more forgiving to scatched surfaces * Digital sound quality better although others prefer vinyl sound quality. * No pops or jumps in the media (unless badly recorded) * ANTI-SHOCK....nuf said

I said it before, and i'll say it again.. "it's all about the DJ's Preference". Both do so much, and both have something that the other does not. This is the whole reason why i choose to do both. " thats my preference ".

* Lighter....both CDs and equipment True Lighter indeed! * Not many moving parts externally that can break off or get lost i.e tone arms, needles, slip mats I've never lost a slipmat, but i guess it could happen * Easier to acquire CD music than Vinyl Kinda True, there are a lot of tracks where the original full length and remix would typically be vinyl only * You cannot burn your own Vinyl (easily) False . . It's easy, real easy . . dooobie doobie dooo * CD media is more forgiving to scatched surfaces True, Depends on the scratch though
