Hi i had a few questions, i have been scratching for a few weeks, and i have been doing great but still have some questoins

1. What the hell do breaks and beats records for, what do they do, and why do i need them?

2. Okay, this is a tricky one, when i do scratchs i get whatever iam scratching, high or low pitch. But when i hear great dj's they do baby's and stuff with great samples and sounds. How do i get those cool sounds.

THanks you very muchh

drewthepooh ,

Breaks and beats depending what kind of breaks and beats your talking about are used for instrumental beats in the back round for the scratching dj to scratch on. he will scratch to an instrumental and practice that way. You can find all types of records that sell scratching samples, and records with beats, and samples. you just need to go to a records shop ( best place to find it is a hip hop records shop ) and ask where the Dj Tools section is ( Battle Records ). They wil show you a bunch of great scratching records to practice with, and you'll find all of your favorite beats and samples that you've been looking for. Best ones to get are the DJ Rectangle series,Dirt Style Records, and anything made by Qbert. I am sure that are many more that are great, but as long as you get the point. Good Luck !

LOL.. ORBITS, AND BABY SCRATCHES ARE SCRATCHING TECHNIQUES. You can probably do it with any record if you find the right sound. But Yes, battle records are what you mostly want to use to achieve these scratches.
