Most likely your tone arm is not properly balanced, or your stylus is mangled. Do you know how to properly balance a tone arm? One thing I do when scratching is to balance the tone arm, put the weight up aroung 3-3.5grams, then I'll actually set the anti-skating to 0.

Stevie Ray,
It is usually a good idea to set your anti skate to the same as your weight settings, 3.5 grams = 3.5 anti skate.

DAZMAN,

You should look into the American Audio Power Drive 2.2. This unit is the " DIRECT DRIVE " Turntable. Any turntable that is " Belt Drive " is more for beginers status.

Yeah John I know, skating should match the weight. But I learned from playing around that on my TT's that when I backspin, or need to backcue quickly alot, that my needles actually track better backwards with the Skating at 0. It may just be an Ortofon thing. Under normal play/scratch/beatmixing circumstances I'll have the skating the same as my weight. Skilz did you ever try this for backspins or such? Oh JB thanks though. Is there any part of anything you don't know? I always just thought you were a creative and marketing geniuses. Wink Razzer
