Im Alex, but most of my friends call me Schafe, hense the DJ-Schafe. Anyway, I recently came upon this forum and found it to be a good resource for information.

Im currently 14 and DJ for my local school/highschool dances. I really enjoy doing it, and plan to continue doing so for a while.

Im just posting this to see the variety of what other mobile DJs use. For instance, I have 1 T-Bar truss as well as a full overhead truss. I mainly use my overhead truss. With that I have
- 4 Starburst Lights
- 2 70w Strobes
- 2 DJ Squeezes
- 1 Color bank
- 1 Obsession
- 1 Slasher

Im just curious as to what other lighting other DJs use. I realize that all of that is non-DMX (being 14 I'd love the intelligent DMX scanners, yet, they are a bit out of my price range for now. I manage with what I have though for what I do).

I was curious, if I were to upgrade to DMX, what things I should really look for.

Similarly, I was always obsessing over the DMX moving head lights. I mean - who doesn't like them. Yet, again, those are very much too pricy for the district dances I do.

Finally, I'm curious as to what audio sysetms you recommend. I use my computer now, but I am very weary as it had a cable unplugged (and broke audio) which was most likely the most embarassing moment of my DJing experiences, however, was easily fixed within 10 seconds, so, it wasn't that bad. Luckily, the school in which I DJ for provided me with a VERY nice sound/mixer board with a value somewhere in the thousands. I plug my computer into one channel, and my dual CD player into the other, to minimize any potential failure. Overall, I think the dance (I have one this Friday) should go well, but I can't get the feeling off my head that something can go wrong. How do you deal with the people?
