Got this idea from a DJ buddy of mine. You can find these at Home Depot for about $50.
They have wheels on one side, and a pull-out handle on the other. A decent amount of room, just line with foam for delicate items. |

Looks very nice. Might have to check that one out in person. Seems it would work well. Good find dude.

I had a large cheapo rubbermaid knock off bin like that (no wheels

I just kinda slammed the foam in the bottom, then cut up some smaller pieces to wedge in between things. Nothing is glued or taped down.
I also had a rather large tub to hold stuff. But the wheels is what makes this thing king. It frees up the hand truck to carry other things. Actually, just had an idea. I bet I could make some tie-downs to secure a speaker (top, not subs) to the top of it. Then, get a second "wheel-tub", and do the same thing. Now, I just made two trips and got 3/4 of my gear inside. I'll have to work on that. |

Yeah, on second & third thought, I'll just stick to putting the speakers on the handtruck. It could handle the weight, but wheeling it became more trouble than it was worth.

whats up with colored power cables look professional and get black cables

Unfortunately black cables are not always available. I have the orange ones and, since in most cases they are behind me, nobody can see them. If I am outside and have to run a fifty footer through grass, I want them visible so that nobody falls over them. |

Yes, black power chords look good, but I'd rather had a guest complain about the bright yellow extension chord, rather than have to deal with someone falling and injuring themselves...

I use both colors, bright for high traffic areas so no tripping hazard, and black for any that go to the lighting in front of me. All my cords are virtually non visible from the dance floor after I set up. Now come behind my equipment and thats another story. Table skirts also hide most of the mess. Also velcro straps bringing all my cords together into a cluster keep it nice and neat. And oh yes lots of duct tape to sucure cords to the floor or wall. That's another thing. If you ever have to plug into a wall socket that is near a table where people are going to be sitting and there is a chance that that cord might get knocked, or pulled out, I suggest duct taping it to the wall very securly so that someone would really have to yank on that thing to unplug it.

Like this one? Or these? Can you spot the unprofessional red cord here? (picture taken as we're breaking down Friday) The red cord is mostly a backup. Also like Good Knight, RO and Dogg said, in high traffic areas or outside events, you should have a visible cable. |

Thanks fobster! We started unhooking things, and I was like, "Ah crud, I forgot to take a picture!" Which is why there's the hand truck, loose cables, & job box out there.
Thankfully, there's always Photoshop to touch things up. |

Very nice setup Bill, can you tell me how long on average it would take you to setup your rig after you've hauled it into a venue?
ROQ out PS. Cable colouring is a no brainer, honestly who cares? I would seriously have to question a customers mental state if they were to complain about cable colours. |

Thanks ROQ.
Once it's in, about 45 minutes, barring any problems. It is a two man job setting all this up, though. Alone, probably take me well over an hour! This weekend's project: fix the truss, and custom cut all the lights cables. |
