ERG Music
Promo Only
X-MIX
3 FULLY LEGAL options, downloading is rediculous and unprofessional at any level of dj'ing.
You can also try the major music retail chains. . .Tower Records, Fye, Sam Goody

I used to recommend cdnow.com, but their website has recently taken a dive since amazon moved in. cduniverse.com isn't bad. As far as the conventional retailers, I've had more luck with Tower. Circuit City type electronic stores have pretty good compilations if you need to build up the basics (disco,...). I would also recommend you check out any used record stores in your area (also a good source for videos and video games). For current material, check out the subscription services like promoonly.com.

Don't forget your local 'indie' shop too. They usually have a used CD bin where you can pick up stuff on the cheap.

Important!! For 98.68% of your parties, you will need the 'clean' versions of songs/CDs. In other words, it can't have that black & white 'Parental Warning' sticker on it! Wal-Mart is great for 'clean' CDs.

And Clip...FYE?!?! Smiler

First off welcome to the forum.

The 3 choices that clipuptags gave you are the best way to go, i prefer promo only over ERG but its just my opinion. X Mix has some realy cool remixs however if you aren't playing alot of highschool dances or clubs then its not worth it, stick to the originals. Now onto the issue of burning cds from the internet. If you want to be a profesional disc Jockey then that is not the way to obtain your music, its highly illegal and you can get fines that can go up to $60,000 for every burned CD you are using. Then the issue of quality of the songs you DL come into play, the downloaded song might not have great quality and it will not sound good at parties to have songs that are barely understandable. Sign up for one of those subscriptions and pick up a couple of these series below,

Pure Disco series (3 discs)- enough disco to get you through a 3-4 hour party

Millenium Funk, Disco and 80's New wave

Instant party extra strengh and regular strengh

that should be a good start
