Who here sends "thank you" cards with a business card to those that booked you?
Are they effective in getting more bookings or do you have any thoughts on if they are necessary? |

It definatley makes you stand out in the customers mind I think. There are so many DJs trying to get so little gigs, that whatever you can do to make the customer remember you, and want to hire you back, would be a good thing to pursue to make you more known.

Yes it is and along with that sumother DJ's along with me send out newsletters every quarter or so to tell our customer of new happenings with our company. It keeps the memory of you fresh in their heads.

I don't know why it never really dawned on me until recently about sending out thank you cards. But, I got to thinking about it and to help build an even better reputation & be a little more well known (rather than "some DJ") I thought about sending some thank you cards to some previous clients.
What are you thoughts on sending some to customers I had a few months back, as well??? |

I haven't done this before, but am beginning to think maybe I will. I know one company I gig for does send out a follow up questionaire to rate the sound quality, appearance of the set-up, music selection, DJ personality, etc. - this is also used to build a reference list.
I like the idea of a simple "thank you". I noticed the site I get my business cards from has a postcard with the same design, which I can make into a Thank You mailer. Thanks for the idea. |

I've sent out the rate sheets before. It was good to get some feedback. I also had a place (on the sheet) for them to put some comments that I could post on my website as well...most actually did write some GREAT comments and gave me permission to post them.

I really like the idea of the rating card. What if you handed one to the sponsors at the end of the evening(w/ a- s.a.s.e.)? Also I make up my own thank yous on my comp. so I can personalize them w/ names and/or school colors, etc.

I handed out a few rate sheets to the mother of the bride once for her to give to some of the guests to fill out. She filled one out (which was a good one) and let some other people there fill them out. Unfortunetely the people she gave them to must have filled them out way too early in the night and just put down sarchasitic comments. I was playing dinner music for them and they ended up starting their actual dance much later than planned...so the dinner music played for about 2 hours, so one of the people who filled out the rate sheet put that I played "too much classical music and not enough good music," I had to laugh!
Be more concerned about the person that paid for your service for the rate sheets and not just general people who happen to be there. |

We have never done a thank you card before the reception before as a thank you, but we do take the B&G out for dinner, and consultation about 2 months prior to their event. We also send a thank you out after their reception.
