Ok Mobile Dj's it's me again. I have another question for the Mobile DJ's out there!!! What is the best way to get more club gigs? In GermanyI played in one spot, but Europe is so huge, and I never really touched the hot spots. The club I played at is really good (Megadrom) www.megadrom.com They showed me so much love, and they gave me a chance, and they can't wait until I get back so I can play there again. However I want to hear from some of the experienced DJ's out there, and how they got there spots, or extra spots???

be persistant, continue to talk with the bookings coordinator untill he/she gives you a shot. If you want it, you gotta go out and grab it, it won't fall on your door step

Get your name out there. Make a mix CD, and give it to some club regulars, or bartenders. They will spread the word if they like it. It creates a Buzz. And if you can, try to get one to a manager.

Our bookings dropped like a rock when the weather changed. Our service is about 6 months old and to get into the entertainer wheel is tough, at least around here. I sent out letters a month or so ago and made many phone calls but our best results came from talking directly to the one doing the bookings. "Got the idea from Blazin Beatz. THANKS!!" Carried a brief case with names and numbers of references. We ok'ed it with them 1st of course. We made a very nice and colorful one page introduction letter printed on photo paper. Contracts were also in the case. I asked them questions about what their customers like and expected. Asked who they have been booking and offered reasons why we were different than the entertainers they were using now but was very careful not to sound c ockey or to say anything that could be taken or turned around as an insult to the entertainers if it was told to them. Several are good people who we like a lot. We did push our ability to preform for about any age group and really pushed our quality sound. Kareoke was brought up a couple times and in a matter of fact reply they were told why we don't do it. Well anyway, got some handshakes and some "we are booked till next year". I gave them my cell # asked them to check our references and said thank you, good bye. This week we have picked up 3 new bookings for this year and 6 new ones for 2005 from the day at the clubs. Persistance, confidence, honesty and of course the personal appearance helped us. We are in a semi rural area. In the county there are only a dozen or so clubs we are interested in preforming at and about 5 local DJ's of any quality around and 5 or so who are Bubba the owners friend who just plays to pay off his bar tab types. There are a couple bands local and several from out of county who make the circuit. Tough to get into the wheel here, probably everywhere. IMO with a good show and enough persistance it is possible. Not real easy but we seem to be doing it. Zorph |
