I enjoy doing both. I enjoy remixing music, and at a club you have a little more leway with what you play, so as long as you keep the bodies moving. Mobiles <thinking weddings here>, if you play an obscure mix of a song you will most often get blank stares. So as far as showing off creativity I enjoy clubs.
I enjoy mobile work, because you get to interact with, and really get to know your crowd. It is also especially pleasing to know that you are part of making the most important day of 2 peoples lives something special. It just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. I have entertained at so many weddings, I'm sure I will be inducted into heaven's hall of fame. Wink Big Grin

Jest,
This has been brought up a number of times here before. Somtimes with questions like this it is best to use the search feature. Here was an extensive thread on the very topic of pay for Club DJ's.

Mobile DJ's don't work everyday? Are you JOKING?

I have never worked so hard at working one day a week in my life!

Marketing, client meetings, client calls paperwork, visiting sites, more client meetings, more client calls, equipment upkeep...

Shall I go on?

Clubs= More Fun with the music (as long as you like what you are playing)
Plus, you get to play new music for the most part.

Mobile= More Professionalism and The Pride Factor of a job well done.

Paywise...
$150 for a club gig (show up and do your thing!)
OR
$495 for a wedding reception
(more work, and care of course!)

You do the math.

I love doing both, and when November comes around, I'm ready for the club gigs on Saturdays.
I still spin every Wednesday night though.

Do the clubs while you are young, and do the mobile gigs more after you are married...

Damn,I feel old now!
