I am a to old to lug around my heavy lighting. I have a couple stands with pars and a couple vertigos and moon lights and flashers, controled manually and chased.

I have deceided to buy a new setup. I would like wireless. I would like everything automated. I get into the music and presentation that I forget my lighting.

There is too much to chose from. Somebody tell me what to get!

Thanks,
Tim

the light co pilot has a wireless feature attachment to make all on and off control hassel free! If you wanted to go automated intelligent lights are the way to go....just term em on and let em go and theyll keep the crowd entertained for hours! if you wanted to stick to ur non intels theres someting called the power saver where you plug your lights into it and it automatically alternates your lighting on a timer. intels id go with tho!

I know you want lightweight, wireless, and automated. I agree, but don't sell yourself short.

The LC Wireless is a good idea if you just want on/off control. On/Off limits what "services" you can provide. Note that you only have to run 1 DMX cable (since you already have to run power) to step up to intelligent, and you have much more flexibility.

For example, I can "spotlight" the bride & groom during their first dance as they move around the floor with the DJ Spot 250's. I can also light almost anyone in the building with them as the prepare a "toast".

I too get "lost in the mix", and have the intelligent lights run off an audio feed from my mixer so the programs sync with the music.

If cost is not an issue, I would recommend stepping up to intelligent lighting, and programming shows. If you don't have enough time to program, put the intelligent lights into "audio" mode, and control their power with switch packs.

To slowly step up, first purchase a nice (spend the money, and spend it once) full featured controller. I am running with the Show Designer 2. Way overkill for my needs, but I can keep adding, changing, expanding with the same controller.

Non-Intelligent best choices (my opinion) are 2-SagaII's, 2-Hyper Beam's,2-Color Sweep's (heavy), a Vertigo/Aggressor combo or Razz Matazz, and the Quick Scan System. Fill in with Pars, and run 2-Mini Starball's (kind of cheesy)or two H2O-250's for slower songs.

For Intelligent I use 4-DJ Spot 250's, 4 -Deluxe Scan 250's and 4 Color-250D's.

I run the non-intelligent listed above (minus the Quick Scan system) with the H20's for slow songs and Pars to fill. I will be replacing the Pars more Color 250's as time goes on. They are very versatile, lightweight, and nicely programmable. When lighting bands, I will add 4 Power Spot 250's (Elation). They are expensive, very heavy, but the best things on the market. I working on picking up an additional 4, but may wait for the 575.

To speed setup, it is all premounted on 5' sections of trussing, with cabling Velcro tied in place. It's heavy, and bulky, But once the trussing is in place, the rest of the setup is aiming (always have to do) and cable hookup. My "roadies" have no problem helping me with the setup, and it only costs me a couple of beers. My cabling in the trussing is preset and I have dropped my power feeds already isolated to the separate circuits. My DMX cables connections are "planned" at the end of each piece of trussing, and at the locations for the Power Spot 250's, to add them quickly and easily. Plug and Go.

Heavy? Yes. Easy setup? The easiest I have found.
