As some of you may have heard, the 60's icon formerly known as Cat Stevens was denied entry into the United States because he is on a terrorist watch list. He got on a plane into the US anyway and the plane was diverted and he was taken off.

He has become a Mouslim and has been outspoken against the war.

I...uh... have never played his music, and no one (strangely) has ever asked.

What about Michael Jackson? Still playing his stuff? I still do, though not at children's parties... Roll Eyes

The only group I don't play anymore are the Dixie Chicks. I mean, unless the person paying me requests it directly, then I have no choice. Meh, even then, it's been a while since their whole to-do. I guess playing "Earl" won't kill me.

It's a tough call. There are a lot of great artists who have messed up their life. If we stopped playing music of everyone that did something 'wrong', we'd have a lot less vinyl/CDs to carry around. Wink

What Mr Cat Stevens fails to realize and maybe yourself (Knight) is he is allowed to practice any religion he wants and be outspoken about issues such as war and not be shot on the spot as well as his family. We know this isn't the case in Iraq. Jump on the band wagon if you want and say we are wrong for going to war, but try that **** in Iraq and see what will happen. Try to speak out to these people who are killing civilian hostages and see if you are only told to get off a plane.

Jeez,,,,,,,,,,,I haven't played Cat Stevens since,,,let me see,,,,ah yes,,,1976, and have NO intentions of playing him ever again. Didn't he burn all his own recordings himself????, and wanted nothing more to do with music???? Sorry,, never really liked him anyways. Now the CRAMPS.....that's another story,,,LOL Stay Sick!!!!! I'll be playing the Cramps till I'm in a rocking chair on the porch of the old folks home. Lux Interior the lead singer for them is 58 years old and still rocking, making no political statements in his music which is what music should be, just entertaining. Check out the Cramps website and listen to a song they have a clip of called "Like a Bad Girl Should" NOW THAT's MUSIC.
Sorry,,,,I just simply hate the CAT man.
Excuse me whilst I go to my record collection now and pull out Mr. Stevens and start my own fire in the back yard with them. Shoulda done that years ago. Thanks for reminding me he's still around.

This is true and the United States government is making sure he can do that SOMEPLACE ELSE! I equate these muslim fanatics with the likes of Adolph and his followers; you know, the ones that killed over a million jews. Can you imagine what would have happened if the United States had taken out the Nazi's before they really got started like we took out Sadam and his band of thugs? Just some food for thought.

Maybe it is best to not know who he is. The Chineese say that when someone's memory is dead they truly are dead. OK, so let's for get about him.

Who is Cat Stevens?

"I'm being followed by a moon shadow, Moon shadow, Moon shadow". Peace Train, what dribble. I can't believe anyone still listens to that stuff. It's kinda folksy music to those who don't know him. He was big at one time, but with his beliefs, and religious whatever, people stopped listening to him, he stopped making music, and I think the radio doesn't even play him any more. I say bury his music and move on. There are other performers that do state political views in a much more better manner and style of music such as Todd Rundgrens Utopia to name one.

LOL at Tha DOGG!!!

Yeah I have to say, CAT WHO.....?????

Regardless of the artists religious beliefs, if the music is POPULAR/good I will play it, if not it gets the flick. In the 16 years I've been DJ'ing I can honestly say I've never been asked to play his music.

ROQ out.

Same here - no one had ever asked for any of his music before, and I never played any on my own. I did a wedding this Saturday that included karaoke and a group sang "Peace Train" as a joke and everyone seemed to have fun with it wishing him a nice return home.
