I have seen the posts on first songs. Any suggestions for Graduation Party songs? Do any of the DJ's just mix songs from all eras 60's-90's or do you do like 15 minute sets of music 50's, 60's British Invasion, Reggae, Beach Music, Disco, 80's and Rap & R&B? Laptop or hard disk?

Grad Party, dances would be a bit different. What you were writing about were 10 increments. I presume by Grad dances your refering to a younger crowd 18-20 something. Stay withing the last 10 years. The dance will probably be only 4-5 hours long that limits you to about 85, 3 1/3 minute songs so pick wisely. Bring as much of the past 10 years as you can because they will always ask for the one you don't bring. I'll play the 85 songs but I bring about 300 - 400 songs from that era and maybe some other era. Lap top etc? Old school. I have the SDJ1 with the SDJ2 on the way (i've had no problems yet with it)These units are firmware..no moving internal parts to go out of alingment etc. All my music is on 3-4 SD flash cards (no weight. I run about 6 simlar style songs then pop on a waltz of a different style to use as a transition into the next style music. You've seen it...in 10 years worth of music the changes. You should set up transitions to go into the style. You want all those song because sure as rain someone will reauest a song and if you don't have it they leave disappointed and go complaining to their friends. Now instead of 1 person choked you have 5 -6 choked. That's experience talking. However..if you don't have oh well. No matter what there will be people there that aren't going to like your tunes. That happens blow it off..can't satify everyone. Do your homework..find out what they like well in advance. Play what the girls like the guys will follow. Play to the majority of the crowd..what gets them dancing. If noone is getting up within 2 songs go to a different type of music. Chances are high they want top 40 with a little remix or R&B or Techno. Bet however very little techno. As you know from the other post they don't want us suggesting actual songs..sorry. Also you have to understand that every dance is different and they want different music, so any suggestions on tunes would sell you right down the river man. Again talk to the people well in advance..it will ensure your sucess. Good Luck. Hope my babble helps.
