I'm curious if it helps, when you're starting out as a new DJ, to arrange the songs in a text binder by beats per minute.

that way when you transition from song to song, they are easy to find and the beats are very close to each other.

and if you don't arrange by beats per minute, how do you arrange your cd's

thanks all Eeker

i'm changing my library to bpm organization. i've found it's easier to find what i'm looking for. plus, if i get distracted, i can always grab something near what i just played and know that i can match it fairly quickly.

here's a free x-mas present. you can count the bpms yourself. just count the number of beats you hear in 6 seconds of a song, add 100, and you've got a general idea of the bpm. it may not be exact, but it's close enough, and you can then make the proper adjustments.

Used to do BPM order when I was in the clubs back in the early 90's. Since going to CD, I just put them in alphabetical order....of course my primary business is weddings so finding BPM and mixing is not as important as just being able to FIND the song!
