I have an "American DJ" Shadow II fog machine that I've owned since 2002. It's worked great until I used it yesterday. There's very little fog output. I ran distilled water/vinegar through it numerous times and now it's even worse. The machine hums, but barely ANY output. very frustrating. I've stumbled across a couple websites that describe fixing fog machines, but none of them are for American DJ fog machines.
Does anyone know of any websites that provide step by step instructions on how to fix my American DJ Shadow II fog machine? Here are some pics of the internals: This message has been edited. Last edited by: DJ John, |

There are recommended fog machine cleaning solutions. Did you try any of those as well? I know the water/vinegar is a widely used procedure.
I mean, where to begin. Pump failing? Is the output warm or hot? Nozzle clogged? All connectors nice and tight? I would think if it's a thermostat or heater, then it would be rather "wet" at output, so look at the nozzle and se what is going on. It doesn't take a lot of fog juice to make a LOT of fog. I think it might be pump related, might be failing. It's definately not a fuse, the unit is powering up. Your picture is great, the unit looks absolutely fantastic inside. You sure you didn't clean it up all pretty before it's close-up? The second picture was hard to see. It needed to be bumped to a second line r something. The one thing that looks odd to me is that black wire that the yellow wire hooks into, it appears to be not plugged in to me. I could be wrong though. -- Chris Pickett, Studio42 916-601-7089 http://www.studio42.com Anti Spam Advocate: http://www.studio42.org |

I fixed it! I took the fog machine apart and fixed it by cleaning all of the pump parts in Kaboom cleaner. Then I re-soaked the parts in fog juice to lubricate them before putting the pump back together. It works like it's brand new and shooting out tons of fog!
As a reference I used the following website, which describes fixing a different fog machine: http://wolfstone.halloweenhost.com/_LocalMirror/How%20t...ect%20a%20Fogger.pdf It was quite helpful. |
